The ko loss to Carter was a fluke. Use your head and realize that the version of Griffith that got stopped by Carter and the version that beat Dick Tiger were miles apart. The version that topped the Tiger would be way too mucfor Carter. Grifith wod hae eay avenged his loss to the Hurricane.

griffith got caught, it happens. in all his fights following that, it never happened again. i think jackson could knock out any 154-160 pounder on any night.

based on evidence though, the most LIKELY situation is nino outboxes him to a relatively clear decision, pulling away in the championship rounds. nino may be falling into the category of underrated and i worry that many only take his loses to monzon into account and not his stunning amateur and pro careers as a whole

That's what's happened Nightcrawler..bingo..just like Antonio Cervantes gets downgraded because of losing to Benitez and Pryor..Nino is undersold..he was by far(along with Loi) the greatest fighter to come out of Italy..he may have lost a few, but he was great in the rematches, until Monzon of course.

Jackson was not KOd by McCallum , he waited 4 him 2 finish and kept getting hit more than he thought McCallum could flurry , McCallum started really getting 2 him with his long lasting flurry of slaps and Jackson started getting hurt 4 real but was stopped on his feet and did not go down d entire fight , not a KO even if not a bad stoppage .

I don't consider Benevenuti a Max Schmelling level fighter , but d 1st time he fought outside of Italy was at age 28 and even then it was in Germany .
Went down in most of his fights that matter . Somehow managed 2 lose a decision 2 a 40 years old and terminally ill Dick Tiger .

Better than Schmelling but not in my top 115 .
And that guy floored Griffith twice . Griffith was better of course but could b hurt and stopped and vs Jackson it is a realistic possibility .

Would u bet on d over if they fought ? I wouldn't . It's odds would have 2b something like 30/1 4 me 2 risk a small fracture of my amount , and had it been a 15 rder instead of 12 , and d over was set on something higher than d 9.5 , d under would have seemed like a good bet , truthfully .

Griffith could never avenge his loss Carter , not realistically , his most realistic chance 2 doing it would b if they fought like 5 additional times , Griffith winning 1 by a decision without getting KDd and with KDing Carter and stopping Carter d other 4 times , with multiple KDs , but Carter in addition 2 his power was a durable fighter .
h2h Griffith did better vs Tiger but Carter beat Griffith d best and if it were only them 3 and their results were like they were/r then their h2h ranking would have been :
    Carter
    Tiger
    Griffith

    clearly .

Benvenuti would have kicked the crap out of Jackson.

    Very onesided fight.

Well put.:thumbsup..upon reflecting, this is more to the point than my previous post. An inshape, prepared Nino Benvenuti stops, as in "knocking out" Julian Jackson..Benvenuti was no Norris type china chinned front runner type, or a Herol Graham either.

Sorry about the double post, but on the other hand, it was so good that it deserved posting twice.

I tend to think Nino at his best wins too, but i don't see him putting a beating on jackson.

he wasn't that type of fighter, he'd take his time and conservatively, classily box his way to an advantage , controlling things with his long-range work and footwork.Maybe gets a stoppage later on, maybe he doesn't, but his so-so upright bodymovent\defence and tendency to get hit very flush when he does get tagged would mean i don't think it wise to really open up on Jackson or seek to "lay a beating" on him unless he can hurt him first with a single shot..and maybe not even then, as he's not the fluid combo puncher that would keep jackson from punching back.

Nino's much better as a sharpshooter with singles and doubles from his boxing stance, true he's a superior ring-general to someone like Graham and far more durable than chumporris, but he's also not as fluid with his hands or befuddlingly unorthodox. He doesn't give jackson the respect his offense deserves and he'll go out twitching on the canvas in a Shoji Oguma vs Antonio Avelar or Hilario Zapata vs Ursua fashion after some good rounds.

Nino, going away late or the second half of the bout.

He'd sharpshoot Jackson and all of a sudden, one of those punches Julian absorbed in the 3rd round has a whole different effect in the 9th. Then, he wobbles and goes. It'd be a bout where 1 guy can absorb like 14 good solid punches from the other guy. But not 15 and that 15th one does enough damage to end the proceedings.

I think Julian might do better against the non-boxer types and better yet, against guys that don't hold their hands up and have much in the footwork department.
