Is it still really necessary for Lederman to remind everyone of this old and obsolete rule from the past?
So it is only in effect in some states in the USA? It has been years since I saw it applied in a Championship bout.
Also Tommy Morrison vs Michael Bennt. But back then the WBO wasnt considered a title. Now the WBO falls under the "unified boxing rules blah blah blah".
usally never a factor anyway, besides the angulo fight most are stopped if a guy is merley hurt, much less knocked down.....
It can be a major factor though, 3 knockdowns in a round and you're out? Fights over? Two of those could be flash knockdowns and the third one could be a slip that was ruled a knockdown, and thats the extreme example.
i agree, im for it.... i was just saying all the quick stoppages latley....but yes, you are 100% correct......
one that comes to mind is charles brewer vs anwan echols....had all the makings for a war....only last 3 rounds i think but round 2 brewer knocked echols down 2 times and had him ready to go...bell rings... round 3, brewer goes in for the kill, echols cracks him and stuns him, brewer on the ropes, echols throws 3 or 4 big bombs that miss and the ref stops it.... final tally brewer knocked down 0 times- is stopped with a tko echols knocked down 2 times- is the winner
