Didn't BHop have a casual amateur career before he went to jail?

I know Paul Williams had a casual amateur career.

Bernard Hopkins had almost 100 amateur fights. They were as a kid though, I don't think he boxed in the ammys post-prison.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi had no amateur experience, he learned to box in Rahway.

Julio Cesar Chavez & Salvador Sanchez had short amateur careers.

A current example is Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. He had no amateur experience and took up boxing at 23 because he lost his job.

Not sure on the exact number. I remember he did box a bit as a kid though. That's what they said in the road to glory show.

emmanuel actually had amateur experience too. 60-4 in the amateur games. pacfags like to act ignorant about this to try to make him appear better than he is.

James Toney I don't think had much of an amateur background.

Felix Trinidad only had a record of 56-6 or something like that before he turned professional.

Presently Vazquez Jr is doing decent in the pros without an amateur degree.

Really I would love to see some footage of a young Bhops ..With some of the responses is it better to have a amateur record or not ?I mean look at the success rate of some of the fighters that didn't.

Hopkins's reported amateur record is 95-4. Bernard talked about how he used to box as a kid and would bring his trophies to school to brag.

I'm not too sure how accurate the reported amateur records in general are though.

It's definitely better to have amateur background. Almost all of the top fighters have decent amateur experience.

Just not TOO much, as it's possible fighters may burn themselves out or get too used to the amateur style.

Salvador Sanchez had less than 10 amatuer fights? Is this true? He's eye to eye with Willy Pep as the 2 greatest featherweights of all time. He must of been a quick learner.
