    Calzaghe on points. Roy has the physical tools to win, he has the power to score knockdowns which he will need to rack up enough rounds but he lacks any of the killer instinct he use to have. I think the G-man affair haunts him in the tail end of his career.

    I agree with this. Joe always finds a way to win no matter who the opponent. Prime Jones v Prime Calzaghe would have been an awesome fight and impossible to pick

    Calzaghe. I think Roy can outbox him for short periods of time, but Joe's workrate will be too much over 12 rounds.

    Jones is still unproven in his comeback but I'll give him credit and assume he's going to come in stronger than his detractors predict.

    Calz. performance vs. Kessler tells me more than the Hopkins mess as to where Calz. is at this stage in his career. The Kessler fight was a very imressive Calz. performance. His speed still seemed to be there. My biggest question re. Calz. is that the extra weight can be a negative factor but it was difficult to tell if it was a factor vs. Hopkins because of the way Hopkins fought.

    Calz. vs. Jones should be a very good fight early on. Jones will fight conservatively and defensiely looking for opportunities to land big counter shots and he'll have his moments. I see Calz. moving a lot laterally throwing in and out flurries and attempting to get Jones to move and fatigue over time. The plan will be effective and Jones will eventually tire and Calz. will relentlessly attack until Jones starts taking lots of leather. Finally Jones will get to the point where he cannot fend off the attacks and the ref. will step in. Calz. by late round TKO.

    Yawn. I set up a poll to let people say whatever they wanted about the fight, I reserve the right to put forward my own opinion too on that same basis, it was not in direct confrontation to anyone else's.

    Let's wait and see what happens on the night, and then come back to me. I would be the happiest man on the planet if Jones Jr won, I am a huge RJJ fan, but sadly I know it is not going to happen. I feel a bit bitter towards people saying Roy will win, because if they recognized a shot fighter when they see one, then I doubt this contest would have been legitimized and deemed acceptable. As it is, because of this attitude, we are going to see Jones dominated and beaten, possibly stopped, by a fighter not worthy of lacing his boots. Fine, carry on in ignorance, enjoy the evening as best you can, and then we'll talk.

    I agree to an extent. I am not a Calzaghe fan but a Jones fan, but I agree with you about Jones just now - he's beyond shot. I think peak RJJ dominates and embarrasses Joe, and I think Joe is maybe approaching slightly past-prime now but is nowhere near 'far past it', but we are on roughly the same page about how the fight will go.

    RJJ on points. i think he's going to surprise a lot of people with his speed and frustrate Calzaghe with his ring smarts. Whilst his best may be past him i think the extent of his decline has been exaggerated. plus his loses came in fights against opponents who had a punchers chance.

    and i'm saying this as a Calzaghe fan.
