No boxer shorter than 6 foot 4 inches would be favorite to beat modern super heavyweights

Why start with the insults. There has been studies into this. Emperial College’s study was the one I read. It breaks it down into the growth rate in different countries, and what they believe is behind the average height increase over the years.

This. Guys that don't want to fight 250 lb+ fighters already have the light heavyweight and cruiserweight division. The cruiserweight division is pretty much an irrelevant division, so splitting the heavyweight division even further would just lower viewership and make for even more bland matchups.

Well, at least 95% of the public is scientifically illiterate so it's not really any more of an insult than if I say you can't cook gourmet food without following a recipe. Relatively few people can.

Look at this color coded map from the study you referenced. The change in the United States was less than two centimeters:

Not if you look at top 10 hw's average weight from every year scince then.they are alot bigger now. 240+ now and 225 for the 90's and it keeps going down as further back you go.

I think you are getting me confused with another poster. I haven't been arguing the growth of man due to nutrition with you.

My only comment was to point to the domination of bigger and stronger heavyweights and I don't envisage a future where the Joe Frazier sized heavyweights will buck this trend. That's all, nothing too controversial.

Up the cruiserweight limit to 210, problem solved. It will weed out all the small heavies.

In 1952 you could have made an equally strong argument - for exactly the same reasons -that heavyweights were getting smaller and no 220 pound oaf would ever hold the championship again. You are wildly over-extrapolating from a short term trend. There is simply no way around this.

Well I'll look forward to a Nathan Gorman type vanquishing AJ, Fury, Wilder et al en route to undisputed greatness sometime soon hopefully. Who needs height, reach, strength, weight, power and durability when the little guy is chock full of gumption. The bigger they are the harder they fall, right?

Couldn't it just be you're angry because we disagree. Difference being I'm not getting bent out of shape as I don't have an agenda to promote or defend.

Maybe not favorite, but Byrd beat Vitali, past it Evander gave Lennox hell and Evander beat Bowe, so anything can happen.

I agree, personally I see a 28 year old Ali 6ft 3 and 1/2 weighing between 220lbs and 227lbs being way to fast for these modern super heavyweights and he wasn’t quite 6ft 4 and before we get some people flying on saying he was a cruiser weight and all that here’s why not, first of all when matching fighters generally you would match them prime for prime as near as dam it, when Ali won his first title in 1964 aged just 22 yrs he was 210lbs in weight just a baby not fully grown into his frame yet but because the heavies were smaller he would yo-yo up and down between 205-212lbs until 25yrs old depending on the weight of opponent eg even training down as low as 201lbs to fight lower weight opponents so he didn’t lose his speed advantage against under 200lbs fighters. his last fight in 1967 he weighed 212-213 for foley then into exile aged 25yrs still a baby, by 1970 he was struggling to stay under 220lbs having to train down a lot harder, as he was now 28-29yrs (man weight) he fought Frazier at 215lbs because Frazier was still reasonably light but now the heavies in general we’re getting heavier into the late sixties early seventies now more 215-225lbs so making it easier for Ali to make his natural weight for his frame around 220lbs to 227lbs depending on his opponent, that’s why in 1971 aged 29 yrs he fought three times in the space of 6-8 months weighing 220lbs then 227lbs then back down to 220lbs in other words he could move up and down between 220lbs and 230lbs because he was naturally a decent size heavy, so let’s take the three top super heavies 1st wilder weighing 215-230lbs Ali comes in at 218-220 for him prime age let’s say 27-28yrs (wilder no chance landing that big right hand one sided battering Ali win) Joshua best weight 240-242 Ali comes in at 225lbs still way too fast for josh after seeing him struggle landing on a 235lbs Parker only 17lbs weight difference( one sided beat down ALi win) now fury 254 ALi 225lbs again bearing in mind a 37yr old-fully grown cruiser topping out at 210lbs got through his size for seven rounds and even knocked him down what does ALi do who is 15lb heavier faster hand and foot than Cunningham has a better chin and endurance. ALi win a one sided beat down) I also appreciate ALi wasn’t quite as fast at 29 than 22 or 25yrs but at 27 -28 with no lay off weighing 225lbs his real prime it’s obvious he would still be way too fast for these heavies.https://www.google.com/search?q=ali+next+to+frank+bruno&client=safari&channel=iphone_bm&prmd=inv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjq_KieuOXbAhXMI8AKHdsQAZoQ_AUIESgB&biw=375&bih=553#imgrc=V0mnh5vutJDesM: This is a pic of ALi dwarfing 6ft3 Bruno in height hand size ecthttps://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.champsuk.com/products/images/1237.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.champsuk.com/i-1237/lennox-lewis-and-frank-bruno-dual-signed-1993-press-conference-photo.html&docid=7jFl0VwZxngQgM&tbnid=qauyQcp6QmKS8M:&vet=10ahUKEwi54OOnlerbAhVHKsAKHbSqAVkQMwh4KBowGg..i&w=400&h=533&client=safari&bih=553&biw=375&q=lewis next to frank bruno&ved=0ahUKEwi54OOnlerbAhVHKsAKHbSqAVkQMwh4KBowGg&iact=mrc&uact=8 this is an image of Bruno next to the best super hw hardly much difference.
