"I have beaten Bernard Hopkins once, it wasn't a great fight and styles make fights and he came to hold and to spoil, rather than to execute as his nickname suggests."
    Quote from Calzaghe

Pretty definitive talk from Joe, we won't be seeing Hopkins vs Calzaghe 2.

Maybe Hopkins is now regretting acting like such a ***** before he fought Calzaghe. Joe knows that Hopkins wants a remath more than anything, so by telling him it aint gonna happen he gets to enjoy his retirement safe in the knowledge that he's got it right up hopkins.

Correct decision by JC. No need to come back. He's been there, done that, bought the T shirt, won the belts, etc etc..

Yes no need to come back, the judges might get the decision right this time and then he loses the one thing that sets him aside from all the fighters better then him.

That was a wind up post above, but yes mate I thought Hopkins nicked it. I cheered Calzaghe on in the last willing him to get a KO thinking he was behind. The judges cost me my number one world ranking on Facebook Boxpics.... the mother ****ers.

I hate even debating the fight. Of course a case ca be made for Calzaghe winning the fight- he landed more punches, but I wasalways told that there was more to winning a fight then throwing and landing more shots. Especially when 25% plus are thrown incorrectly. Keith Knox- Micky Cantwell ... prime example. The referee discounted most of Knoxs work because of incorrect technique, either way ring craft and intelligent control of pace is far more impressive to me then watching someone throw punches like a cat trying to catch some thread and then showboat horribly.

Calzaghe is/was a great fighter, and comes across as a very likable man... however I would rather eat a turd burger then watch his fights for entertainment or educational purposes.

I thought Joe just nicked it by a couple of rounds, he was more active and the natural agressor imo. The rounds I gave Hopkins were where he actually landed a good shot or two (and of course the KD).

JC did look surprised when they announced the verdict though. In fact I'd say he was shitting himself :yep

Calzaghe doesn't do rematches.... and just as well for him that he has retired....As I beleive B-Hop underestimated how good Calzaghe was in the first fight....a 2nd time round I'm sure B-Hop would win (even though after watching the first fight several times, I can't decide who wins - i score it differantly everytime)....but we'll never know.

B-Hop v Adamek would be very risky for B-Hop....as Adamek has power at his weight and I doubt B-Hop will ever be hit as hard as Adamek can hit....so very risky....OWEVER IF B-Hop fights and wins - I would put him in with ATG and rate his overall record higher than RJJ....

I've never watched it again as it was such a boring fight but I did have Calzaghe up just.

I think JC underestimated B-Hop as well in their fight.

Would never write B-Hop off though as he's a cagey old matchmaker, sorry, fighter

I think Hopkins stood Calzaghe on his head for the 1st five rounds

hopkins only showed good work for the first 4 or 5 round, and i had calzaghe nicking a couple of them, the fact of the matter is they underestimated each other, JC would win by ud if they fought again.
