I have not had any of the main carbs like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes over the last few days, instead lots of veg and soup with my lunches. I've felt less sluggish after lunch at work and not as bloated. Only drawback is I've felt a bit tired in the evening (but this might also be because my kid's got a cough right now, you other dad's out there will know it ain't easy trying to get them to sleep). Our boxing training starts back next week, how would this no carb diet play out while training, good idea? I was thinking I'll probably just have them in my meal before training and for Sunday dinner. Appreciate any feedback.
No, sounds ridiculous to me. No need for anything extreme if you just want to get fitter and lose weight, a balanced diet is all you need. If you arn't struggling to make weight then no need, have carbs with every meal.
Carbohydrates = Energy......... No Energy in sports = Loss Loss is a disaster......... To train correctly and have max energy you need more cards than protein by a streak.. and you also need some essential fats to help break down some of the foods.. If you box you can't compete properly with zero carbs, you will burn out super fast and seriously find yourself in a dark place..
Vegetables are carbs. Increase them and you will increase your energy. Your meals should consists of 30% protein, 30% fats, 40% carbs. The protein should be lean cuts of mean and fish. Fats can come from olives oils, nuts, avocados. Carbs should be your fruit, vegetables, and sparingly whole grain rice or pasta. You will be less bloated, healthier, and leaner. If you are sluggish in the evening, make sure you are eating enough of each.
Like a previous poster said vegetables contain carbs. They do not contain many calories, but they do have a lot of nutrients. Same goes for soup, a good vegetable soup is a nutrient bomb. A nutrient rich diet will give you a lot of energy, but there is no reason not to eat carbs from other sources. Preferably fruits and veggies, but you can add bread, potatoes and pasta if just fruits and veggies leave you on an undesired calorie deficit.
basically same as above, carbs should be the main focus of your food intake, then protein, then fat no carbs at all would be deversating
Brown carbs are good as well. Fibre, from what i have learnt, helps the fat burning process, from what i have READ. Why not grab yourself a bag of Jelly Babies or something similar ? Very high in carbs, ok to keep you buzzing all day or at certain spike times. From what i know a lot of pro's etc would be snacking down on stuff like this in the past, maybe these days theres shakes etc etc that they can use. Correct me if am wrong. :good
Would not recommend jelly babies, loaded in sugar, high glycemic index food. Will spike your blood sugar, body will release extra insulin to counter it, and you will then feel tired. For snacks, use dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts.....
It would be disastrous. Carbs are the body's primary energy source, then fats, then protein.; If your body starts using up fats and proteins, you would be in serious trouble.
Never saw it myself in the amatuers though i have read of past Pro's using them, maybe they had reasons. I didnt mean to eat jelly babies etc rather than normal carbs, if thats how it came across. Though i thought the sugar etc keeps ya "buzzed" so to speak. Nice info btw :good Never did use them or make a point of using them maself.
