It was beautiful to see two fighters fight and not clinch everytime they get close to each other.

It should be illegal to clinch. Period!

Nothing wrong with occasional clinching. Excessive clinching does tend to ruin fights. It was a good fight. Both Bute and DeGale did themselves well that night.

Cotto vs Canelo was pretty good in that regard too. I'm not a fan of clinching.

why? what exactly makes clinching acceptable? what reason is there to allow clinching in a fight? whats your reasoning behind thinking theres nothing wrong with clinching?

DeGale is one of my favourite fighters. He's really undefeated and has fought quite a lot of good fighters now.

If you are hurt or want to reset, you clinch. If you have ever been buzzed before in the ring, you would understand that. Clinching is part of boxing, always was and always will be. If you wish to ban clinching then you might as well ban slipping and parrying punches and just let the fighters take turns hitting each other in the face. It's the refs job to control the amount of clinching but it's the fighter's job to give himself the best chance of winning within the rules.

Great fight on the part of both boxers. Bute looks like he can contend at a high level although I doubt he ever wins another title.

And props to DeGale for traveling to the lions den.

Good fight, I agree! DeGale likes to use his elbows.... ref warned him once but didn't see the other 4.

I think he knows how to clinch when he wants to. I'm sure I've seen him do it in previous fights

Bute was waiting for that perfect shot... he should've just attacked more.

    Yep!
Sometimes I see guys hurt or tired and start yelling at the tv "clinch, dummy!" There's a few guys that should learn how to clinch.

clinching stinks....but its a neccessary evil......but i agree sometimes too much ruins a fight and there should be a point where a ref should start to penalize
