It was a great comment like The lad is on fire, I just don’t know how he knows me so well

    Exactly!
This is how I'd like to watch big fights, or at least have the option to watch a feed with all the sounds and roars of the arena but no commentating.

Way back when Evander Holyfield and Bowe fought for the first time, HBO aired a replay of the fight about a week later.
On that night, as homage to how great round 10 was, HBO signed off the air by replaying round 10 in its entirety with all the sounds out of that arena but the commentary.
This was round 10 of a brutal Heavyweight fight. How awesome it was to hear even the rhythm of the fighters breaths. The thud of the punches, the grunts and moans as the fighters gave and took.
It gave me goosebumps to watch that classic round without commentary, only the raw sounds.

Hell, I have goosebumps thinking about that round now in its raw form. Just gives you a deeper appreciation for what a fighter goes through during a fight.

TV networks will never go that way though because as we all know, they not only have something to sell, but an agenda to go along with that which they could not put over on us on a telecast without commentary.

Yeah it would be great to be able to have the option to do that and obviously it's no hassle for the TV networks to do. That's how I felt watching that version of Gassiev vs Lebedev and it really gives you an appreciation of just how hard these guys are hitting each other and what warriors they are.

Yeah I don't see them doing that anytime soon for that very reason either.

See this is something we should have by now. Like when you play a sports video game there's always audio options to turn off commentary. Whatever platform you watch sports on you should have the option to turn on or off the commentary. It's an important detail missing in the world of sports in general. Because there are times where you want to listen to the commentary, and times when you don't. Sometimes you can only tolerate so much, and the guys calling the action start going off on tangents you get fed up, we shoud be able to turn them off without losing the rest of the audio. It's a very simple procedure that should be available to us but isn't.

And another thing, if boxing matches were presented without commentary or if we had that option, it would put an end to a lot of the constant claims of robberies. The commentary teams, including their unofficial ringside scorers, create a good amount of that outrage. If you didn't have to listen to their nonsense during fights fans could really pay attention to the action without being distracted and led astray. Suffice to say if matches were presented without commentary fans by and large would be a lot better at scoring and there would be less outrage. But I guess controversey and claiming robbery after every fight is part of the fun of it and the charm of it, but we need to be aware of how we are influenced by commentary. Personally if I had the option I might not use it for every fight. If a commenary team was good and they made fights more fun I may listen to them but if / when they get annoying we should have the option to turn them off so our view of the bout isn't impacted as much by their bias.

Commentary, okay. But how do they remove the sound of the cheering crowd?

    Do you have a link?

If we had the option, I think most viewers would chose to hear the commentary because lets face it, most viewers which include a great chunk in this very forum need to be told how the fight is unfolding so they can form an opinion the next morning at the water cooler. LOL!

…...but I get what you're saying, there would be less cries of robberies by the fans if we were all forced to watch without commentary and be forced to form our own opinion of a fight. The Canelo-Golovkin fights are good examples. I don't think there would have been much controversy in those fights had fans watched without commentary.

I hope one day they do give us that option. As ****ed as it is I would even pay a little extra for it.

Here's a thread with a collection of fights without commentary.

Please contribute as you find more.

Possibly custom designed options in future , flip side to that also could be muting crowd and creating sound effects like Batman t.v series when they hit power shots.

Id probably be more into custom made announcers, where you can create your own person but it still uses the actual voice and movements of say... Berstein in real time mimicking him and his movements.!

imagine making like a pig's face hybrid with his and morphing it to his body where Bernstein calls the action making snort noises after every sentence , Lewis a Hyena , etc..fans can create their own event in how it looks . :confundio:
