I watch all the fights on the internet and for me the english commentators are the worst, they sound like a couple of drunk old men at the pub.
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/recorded-fights-with-no-commentary.628666/ This link has several fights embeded that contain no commentary. Hopefully we can continue to add more videos as we find them.
British commentary is almost always very partial towards one side, certainly when there's one of their countrymen involved. Sometimes it's comparable to watching football where the commentators are bigging up the side that's lucky to only be 2-0 down, to have the other team exactly where they want them. It's that crazy. But what's far worse is having commentating that don't know what the F they're talking about. Giving the viewers sometimes ridiculously faulty information, because they didn't even prepare when being asked to commentate on a sport they know little to nothing about, effectively mimicking the parents in the HBO Go commercial. That's what happens in my country.
I find Ranallo far too bombastic also, he's in permanent scream mode and it lessens the impact of dramatic events when they happen. " HERE HE COMES INTO THE RING, MAMA MIA!!! JUST LOOK AT THOSE TRUNKS, WOOT" and "WOW! HE CAUGHT HIM WITH A HELL OF A PUNCH!" Same screaming level no matter what the subject or context. Perhaps when streaming services evolve we will have more choice. I've always wanted alternate audio feeds and I wish that PPV telecasts would up the volume of the fight itself. I'd like to hear what they are saying to each other, hear the punches better, just like you. For sure they must have separate channels for audio. You should be able to choose an audio channel and be able to switch to different camera feeds at will. Now that would be a show! That being said, I often disagree with what the commentators are saying and wonder what fight they are watching, or if they are paid cheerleaders for a particular fighter, but they don't affect how I see the fight and sometimes they can be entertaining, but a choice would be good and it's technically possible right now I'm sure.
shhhh, they are listening. I'd say I'd subscribe to the service that provided optional audio channels and let the others wither and die. Whoever provides the best service, right?
In that case you will like this classic (good bit starts at 2:45) This content is protected Ranallo a few shades paler than usual ...
I would pay a premium to be able to choose between different sound feeds. Commentary or what’s going on in the ring and the corners. This goes for all the sports. Imagine being able watch Larry Bird or Micheal Jordan with all the trash talk and the bravado with a mic on the court.
Yes it would be a great option. Yes the people who are slagging you off for making a perfectly good suggestion are thick as **** or deliberatley stirring because see previous explanation. No it won't happen, or at least its very unlikely. The TV companies see the commentary as their chance to sell future fights, build fighters, shape opinion etc. If you don't listen to the commentators how can they plug the upcoming PPV? Years ago Sky TV used to allow you to watch a live feed with just the match audio. It was great, but they discontinued it. They don't want to lose the chance to engage their audience, it's too useful to them.
Another ass-chapper, is when they silence/sidescreen the corner dialog between rds, while they stick-in another useless commercial. Screw constipation remedies, I want to hear what the corners are telling their fighters
I can do this. Where I live, we get a few languages for commentary on the satellite box. There is also the option for "none" , and just get crowd noise and sounds from the fight/race/game.
Completely untrue. There are studies on this that show the power of words. Some good articles out there especially on how Floyd and Pac had to have a personal sit down prior to their fight because both of them understood the impact commentary has on shaping and forming viewer opinions. Commentary broadcast was one of the major sticking points in their negotiations. Another good one about Lederman not using head phones when he scored fights for HBO. To think you are above it is not logical or true. It is not a reflection on you, but rather the molding of the human mind. It’s not even really debatable or complicated.
