No defense having Russian Dmitry Kudryashov gets chin checked by Olanrewaju Durodola.

He has reverse shoulder roll, move your shoulder in such a way that the punch hits you straight in the face, but honestly I was actually laughing during the fight how ridiculous that was, a big slow guy with slow reflexes trying to do a Mayweather on the ropes.

Kudryashov is a pretty badass dude but that was just a ridiculous performance, his over confidence and lack of focus/discipline cost him the fight.

Also, he really needs to improve his footwork, way too stiff.

 

The defeat was quite alrming.

Kudryashov has many flaws that were apparent before the Durodola fight, but, to see so many of them be highlighted by an opponent, who too has many flaws, was quite staggering.

 

I meant alarming if we go by the hype he was getting by some fans. But, yes, not so alarming if you looked past the tremendous power and saw the technical and mental flaws.

As for Durodola, he is good, but, he didn't really use many of his skills to beat Kudryashov. It was a blunderbus method he used to beat him. From a technical and tactical stand point, Durodola didn't need to be anywhere at his best to beat Kudryashov.

CST, what are your thoughts on Beterbiev and a similar thing happening to him? In terms of hype and power (which these days seems to be the only asset needed to build hype in some fans) Beter and Dmitry are similar. Beter has more skills and IQ, but i feel he he too has some flaws and could be taken out if rushed. I understand it will take a fighter of a higher level than Durodola, but, this talk of a Kovalev fight, for me, is far to early.

 

My thoughts exactly. He has potential, but no need to rush him. Kovalev will be around for awhile.

It's good to see not everyone is impressed just by a pretty KO record.

 

Kudryashov has world level power but not much else..... That is unless he goes back to the drawing board and works on a few things, at the moment he's a hype job who went bust.

 

Classic power puncher syndrome. Kudryashov isn't the first to get it, and he won't be the last guy who gets way overconfident just because he can hit like a ton of bricks.

There's no way Beterbiev will have something like this happen to him, Beterbiev is not a buffoon like Kudryashov, watch the Campillo fight, he boxes well. He may have a hard time against some styles (I'd think he'd struggle with movers more than say Kovalev) but in general there's no gaping holes in his game like there was with Kudryashov which were apparent for some time now.
