No doubt, thus far "Liakhovich-Brewster" is the best HVY title bout in the 21st Cen.?

    Folks,

Thus far since 2001, my top-5 favorite heavyweight title fights have been:

    1. "Lewis-Klit
    2. "Liakhovich-Brewster"
    3. "Maskaev-Rahman 2"
    4. V. Klit-Sanders"
    5. "Lewis-Tyson"

Still, even though I am partial to dude's like Lewis and V. Klit, and them two fought a sloppy, yet epic fight in 2003, I must conclude that my # 2 pick (Liakhovich-Brewster) may indeed be the top heavyweight title fight of this century thus far to date.

Neither Sergei Liakhovich or Lamon Brewster has ever been the same after this 2006 war. That's pretty factual, too..

Here in 2011, Brewster is retired and Liakhovich is supposedly coming back for more action. We'll see how far his comeback goes.. I'm guessing not very, despite what trainer Kenny Weldon has been saying that Sergei Liakhovich is looking good in camp...

    Who Knows?:huh

Crazy fight. Its the only fight since Bowe-Holy III that I can watch constantly and never get bored.

I don't think its completely fair to say this one fight ruined Brewster because he had been through some cruel punishment prior. First Klitchsko fight was vicious, Meehan saw him suffer a broken jaw and ruptured ear drum and countless puches against the ropes, and Luan Krasniqui pummeled him in a back and forth war that truly rivals the Sergei fight.

btw since when is Lewis-Tyson an exciting fight???

    Note:

"Tyson-Lewis" had a great build-up.... Yes, after round 1, the fight became one-sided by Lewis... Still, I popped a woody over it back in '02... Peace..

Golota/Ruiz wasn't too bad either. It was amazing for a "Ruiz fight".

i have said for 5yrs that Liakhovich v Brewster is as good as any Heavyweight fight i have seen since Holyfield v Bowe... it was a brutal fight.

    A terrfific fight.
It's a shame that Liakhovich went on to lose to those big bums Briggs and Valuev.

Superb brutal slugfest war! The sheer hell they put each other through sadly made them into shot fighters. When Liakhovich had Brewster at his mercy on the ropes it reminded me of the brutal 9th round of Douglas-Tyson.

Byrd-Golota was even better I think

    I really like "Byrd-Golota" too....... Underrated....:good

"Liakhovich-Brewster" seemed to finish off a worn Brewster and ruin Liakhovich..... Neither dude did **** afterward...

I agree, they both took horrific punishment in this fight, flush bombs for 12 rounds of serious pain. Their bodies certainly paid the price of giving us a truly great brutal slugfest.

Good list mr. Bill ! I loveed all those fights, and you are not alone on popping a boner on the Lewis/Tyson pre-fight build up
    :good:patsch

Maskaev/Rahman 2 was a war, I was so mad in that 12th round and how Rock spent himself through the last few rounds and couldnt barely hold himself up
