So Arum says that he got 4 for Baldomir, where the floydboys say he got 8.

    Someone is bullshitting us.

I reckon $8m would be about right, it was only £4.5m at the time - did he get $30m apiece for DLH & Hatton?

I heard that Hatton got $15-18m + a % of Sky PPV money (almost 2m buys @ £15/$30). Mayweather got none of the Sky money because he didn't think it would amount to much!!

Good read. The fact remains that Margo by-passed Cotto to fight Williams. It just didn't make sense then and it doesn't make sense now. This is no spin,it's the truth.:good

Margarito’s answer was simply that he didn’t want to surrender the WBO championship he held at the time.

If that doesn’t make sense to you, you’re not alone. Margarito would have been surrendering one belt (the WBO) to fight for another (the WBA).

It’s especially puzzling considering he has done the exact thing this time around, handing up his IBF belt he won in the interim so that Judah and Joshua Clottey can fight for it next week.

ya i found this rather intriguing

Arum clearly stated that the fight would be on the table should Margarito get by Williams. Tony did the right thing by fighting Williams first because he would have guaranteed two paydays. Where he went wrong is in underestimating Williams.

Holding the IBF strap was different because had he elected to defend the IBF title there was no offer sitting on the table for a future Cotto fight (that I am aware of anyways). So this just might have been a take it now or forever hold your peace deal.

Margarito's said he choose to fight Williams because he wasn't going to give his belt away to fight Cotto. But know he is giving his belt away to fight him.
Now, that seems a little odd. I don't even understand why thay are going to take his belt away. Cotto is better opponent than Clottey. Who he already beat. I think the winner should keep both belts. But I guess the comissions and promoters will make some money with Judah/Clottey. And then, fighting the winner against the winner of Margarito/Cotto

May be not. May be Margarito will beat him next time. But it doesn't matter if Margo got hurt or not during this fight. HE LOST. This is boxing and there is a point system in place. Unless he KO his opponent. And he didn't. Time to look ahead.

If you try and build your image on saying all other top fighters avoid you then you are gonna get called out if it appears that you duck one of them. In Margo's defense it's not like he side stepped Cotto to fight some chump, Williams is a nightmare at WW and he later tooke the Cotto fight so all this is kinda a wash.

You're right about Williams never hurting Margo and right about Margo hurting him. He really took the fight to him late and proved his heart and went out like a champ. I take serious exception with the "i started too late" excuse though. Just as I did when Bhop used it against Jermain. It is disrespectful to the other fighter and quite frankly kinda bull****. If your gameplan is to coast early and then you have a reason for that and know that going in and you need to know when you have to turn it up in order to risk giving away a decision. why did it never happen before? I think when Williams was fresh he baffled Margo and took him out of his game. Margo hung around and Williams slowed down a bit and then he was able to get some work done but it wasn't enough and thats pretty much it. Close fight where Margo came out looking very good, but was given the loss. I want to see a rematch regardless of the outcome tomorrow night....but I think Williams will win again.
