I am probably the biggest Tyson fan over here, i just find it hypocritical that some posters who are huge Tyson fan boys where they always say that Tyson was old and washed up by the time he faced Lewis in 2002 when he was 35/36 and that his style was a young man's style which he could not implement in his 30's. Why are these same posters behaving like Canelo fanboys and not accepting the same reasons for GGG who himself is 36 years old, same pressure fighting style, more wear and tear on the body given how hard he trains and more remarkably he gave a 28 year old prime Canelo with heavy backing from the judges, bodies a huge run for his money when he is way past his best and in fact even won both the fights according to the vast majority of pollsters around the world.
Tyson didn't have half the heart as Gennady Golovkin! Fact! Tyson was a very skilled at his style of fighting, but he was pretty limited once the fire burned out.
Lewis was a giant of a man, Tyson was outgunned with his lack of explosiveness. GGG is strong as an ox but not explosive and he had a big size advantage himself, comparable to Lewis over Tyson. When you hit your 30's you don't lose strength but you do lose fast twitch power. GGG and Tyson dont have similar attributes to compare
I went big in backing Golovkin and I really wanted him to win. I personally thought he won both fights, the second fight not by very much but I'm not going to start making excuses about age and stuff like that and I'm not arguing about scorecards, the fight is done, the result was given and we all have to live with it. So as hard as some of you may find it you are just going to have to give Canelo full credit for the win and accept any gloating and roasting from the Canelo fans. It's only fair, I would have gone in on them if the result went Golovkins way so it's only right I accept it now the result went the other way.
Good points. And it’s not only Gennady’s age but he’s been showing signs of slowing down in the past 5 fights. Especially in the hand speed and reaction time category. The hand speed part has affected his power imo and is why we didn’t see Jacobs or Canelo hit the deck. That and the supplements those two were obviously on helped them last the distance.
Because people generally do not like fanboys. Fanboys elevate their fighter to God like status. Somebody like Chris John who almost retired undefeated did not have that type of following. Nobody cared when he finally lost. When GGG finally lost it's like how is your God now? If people didn't have to hear about how GGG can beat everyone including king Kong himself we would not be hearing this now.
Not a good comparison. Tyson turned pro at 18 and had over 40 fights by the time he was 25. GGG turned pro at 24 and at age 36 barely has 40 fights.
