Norton and Holmes I think would cause him the most trouble. They both had good height/reach and nice jabs to deal with Ali at long range.

Norton's strategy was perfect against Ali in 1973. Sometimes aggressiveness behind the jab, which forced Ali to the ropes, then both hands let loose. Also standing off and taking a step inside then jabbing. He varied his game well.

If all you need is height reach and a strong jab then Wlad Klitschko would beat him.

And i suppose a 67 Ali would be lucky to win against a legend like Bonavena cuz the Ali who fought Frazier had a hellava hard time. Don't make me laugh. Liston was fast enough for the quick fisted Patterson. But maybe he had a bad back.

No only idiots like you will say the Ali who fought Bonavena and Frazier was as great as the pre-exile Ali. Frazier was a great, Bonavena wasn't and no match for a 67 Ali.

Norton, Tyson and Holmes have the best chance, but no Heavyweight in history (even at their best) would be fave against a peak pre-Vietman Ali. :good

I never suggested Ali was unbeatable,I said prime for prime he beats Frazier, that was a prime Frazier ,but not a prime Ali,,several people stood in front of Frazier and stayed around awhile Mathis ,Bonavena twice,Im not saying Ali would roll over Joe but beat him he would, imo he didn thave his legs back when he fought in the FOTC,he needed more rounds under his belt before taking on the best fighter around at the time,at that he put Frazier in the hospital and left him a reduced fighter imo, that night in the Garden Frazier was magnificent,as Ali said "no matter what the price he will pay it",and he did, look at his next two defences ,if he was still 100% do you think they would opted for those travesties?
Ali would would tko Marciano Rocky pulled the fat out of the fire against a 38 year old Walcott who was leading on points ,and a 33 year old |Charles who had split his nose in half,10 rds of Alis combos would rip Marcianos face to shreds,in with a world class big man 6 3 in his prime would be a horrible experience for Rocky ,too much speed and reach, plus Ali had a top chin and could take body shots.

People seem to forget George Chuvalo more often than not got to Ali though out thsos 15 rounds. I think Marciano or Dempsey finds the mark more often than not to perhaps score a win over Ali.

Neither ever hit Ali in their 3 fights against him. Both "knockdowns" were in fact, if you look at them with an objective historical eye, slips. Ali just couldn't be hit in the 1960s.

Liston was quick enough because Patterson came right at him and had fast fists, not fast feet like Ali.

Again, the stylistic differences are as big as you could find. Your comparisons are horrible, really.

If you judge how Ali would do against Frazier by looking at his fight with Liston, or how Liston would do against Ali by looking at his fight with Patterson, then you don't know much about styles.

A lot of fighters could do it on a given day.

If we take your top 20 heavyweight list then I guarantee that your number 20 would be a serious threat to your number 1.

    That is reality.
