If Bernard pulls it off it will be an awesome achievement, the best of the year, maybe even the decade.

However, it's doubtful if it would crack the top ten in the 'awesome achievement' category.

As has been pointed out, Ali over Foreman for one.

Age is less the issue here than the calibre of opponent. Foreman had a top 10 and a top 20 on his resume, both by KO

    Size ?

    Foreman 217 Frazier 214
    Foreman 225 Norton 213

    Not an issue.

Kov is nowhere near the killer Foreman was, nor is nowhere near as proven against top competition.

Then there's Duran grabbing the MW belt from Barkley who was coming fresh of a win over Hearns, at age 38 four weight divisions above his natural best.

There's Braddock over Baer and a bunch more.

It will be an awesome achievement, if it happen, but not the greatest ever.

Ali Foreman was 3-1. Ali had worse odds against Liston, I'm almost positive. The Buster Douglas and Oliver McCall upsets also had worse odds than Ali Foreman.

You know just imagine if Floyd had the balls & champions heart of Bernard Hopkins. What an incredible champion you'd have Floyd could then maybe call himself TBE . As it is ROFLMAO.
    Bernard Hopkins >>>>> Fraud Mayweather

It would be a great win but by no means the biggest accomplishment in the history of boxing.

Ali was 3-1, and thats going off the british media to the build up of the fight i've seen. Ali was 7-1 vs Liston

Douglas was 20/25-1 vs Tyson, I think in vegas it was all the way to 42-1 but not sure how true that one is

You mention Duran, But you don't mention a Slighty past it Duran coming up and beating one the greatest most complete fighter ever in leonard

  8. He would certainly be fighter of the year indisputably.

I do think Naz will stop the fight, I just don't see how Hopkins is going to not have to be mobile all 12 rounds, he certainly can't lean against the ropes and lean back. His opponent will just batter the hell out of his body and hopkins is prone to being hit to the body a lot. This is a guy who can manage distance better than we've seen from a big man in a long time. I think highly of Bernard for taking this fight but this isn't a guy who is going to come undone from rough tactics if anything he'll pull out some of his own. People act like Kovalev is just the flavor of the week, he's not new to this

Those odds are bull****.bookies make odds and keeps changing those odds, depending what way the money will go.if somehow the bookies would be so stupid that those were the opening lines.in couple of nights it would have changed drastically.Ali was so big name that casuals etc fans would place bets on him,and definetly pro punters would make big bets with those odds.yes,Ali was big underdog.but no where 49/1.especially for HW title fight it's hilarius, especially when at the time Ali was proven great fighter.

FALSE!!!! Kovalev isn't that accomplished where it's that big of a victory.

It will be a great win due to Hopkin's age, and the fact that he's an underdog.

I just think it's sad that this fight isn't getting the press it deserves. What Hopkins has done in the ring at his age is amazing.

    Yes, there's that too.

    And plenty more besides.

Still, if Bernard pulls it off it will be pretty awesome.

BHOP says that he will win this fight even more impressively than his win over Pavlik. I believe him. Kovalev will fold like a cheap Russian Hallmark greeting card.

Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev is going to stop bernard hopkins in 5-7 rounds. Rendering the alien unconscious with a nasty right hand to the solar flexes followed by a devasting left hook to the temple.
