    Under Seamon.....

Wake 5.30am - Clean teeth and gargle
During winter, dress in shorts/sweater/tracksuit, knitted skull cap/woolen gloves and heavy boots.

1 hour of roadwork, about 5 1/2 miles, running and walking as Joe see's fit because he's "a good worker". Joe picked up loose stones along the way as he thought it a "very good exercise for the back muscles".

After returning to camp drink a glass of carrot juice then rest until 10am then have a meal of apple juice, 3 or 4 lamb chops, ham of liver, 2 x 4 minute boiled eggs - no bread no potatoes. 15 minutes later a couple of glasses of water.......never would drink be taken with food.

Afternoon equaled a long walk followed by a game of ping pong or cards then lie down until 2pm.

At 3pm go to the gym, shadow box for 5 minutes, spar 4-6 rounds with 2 or 3 sparring partners, 3-6 minutes on the speed bag, 3-6 minutes on the heavy bag, 5 minutes skipping rope, 15 minutes of calisthenics then 5 minutes of a medicine ball being thrown into his gut 25 times.

Post workout - undress, get wrapped in a blanket, have another blanket thrown on top then lights out for a completely darkened room for 15 minutes to perspire freely. Immediately after, get dried thoroughly, lukewarm shower...never cold as it stiffens fighters up....massage, dry off with oil of eucalyptus, omega oil and a little drop of olive oil then an eye wash and foot salve.

    BOOM!!!

    Edit to add dinner -

5:30pm - Two glasses of water followed by salad, soup with crackers, a thick steak of about a pound, grilled medium rare-never well done-with corn or string beans. Louis then had tea with either lemon or milk and then 3/4 of an hour later a pint of vanilla ice cream.

Half hour rest, two glasses of water, and an evening of cards, or-two days a week-a trip into town to see a movie. After a walk bed by 8:30 or 9 o'clock.

And remember---he was an assistant under Blackburn. What a great corner. Then again, the best champs always have a top shelf corner. Sure are not many without one, is there?

What's amazing is it is all about cardio and boxing skill and almost nothing for additional physical strength .. imagine guys like Louis under today's methods ? He'd be an absolute monster, more than he even was .. he'd be better.

That's an interesting and perhaps debatable hypothesis.

Very light work. An hour of exceedingly slow road work in the morning followed by eating and resting. Then an hour of gym work. Not exactly Spartan.

Maybe it was just regular training days and not camp. Looks a bit light to be a day in camp.

15 minutes of chalistenics together with heavy bag work everyday can give you quite a bit if you do it intensively enough. But I wonder if this was a day in camp or just a regular day? Seems a bit light for a day in camp.

Lol what do u expect these guys to do? 5 1/2 miles every day plus a normal boxing work out is more than enough unless ur looking to ruin a guy. U think Ruiz or Fury is doing five miles a day? Those two r lucky if they get off the couch for five min.

It has both "training camp" and "regular training regimen" mentioned and "after returning to camp" prior to resting before his 10am meal.

Fury and Ruiz both own Limited Edition Fat Bit watches.

Upon detection of the slightest cardio, the watch immediately alerts them to sit and have a snack.

The identified “gains” are the added kgs.

A couple of other tidbits -

Seamon wasn't above playing games to build his fighters ego. A few times, he confessed later in life, he fixed louis' punching bag and gloves so that they would tear, leading Louis to imagine that his power had grown to superhuman proportions.

Louis said the Mauriello fight was the last time he really felt like his old self. "I had complete control, energy, power".

Seamon and Louis has a rare disagreement in his preparation for Walcott. Louis, concerned about appearing overweight and out of shape began drying out a few days before the fight-not drinking liquids in order to artificially lower his weight. Whenever Seamon asked him to take a drink of water he would say he wanted to make 212 pounds. Seamon told him he was making a mistake to which Joe said if i am i will take the blame. In his dressing room after the fight Louis admitted he made a mistake drying out and next time would listen to Mannie.

What’s debatable, specifically ? You think this compares to todays strength training and that he’d not be much stronger today with better conditioning ?
