Ortiz defense is much improved. I didn't think he would ever be able to avoid the right but Danny Garcia has done wonders with his movement.
Ortiz is actually a good body puncher imo. I went and watched some of his earlier fights last night, his body attack is pretty good, dont know if he's gotten away from it recently, and that is what your referring to, but he does seem to be able to go to the body from what I've seen.
Zab Judah had a jab Corley had a jab Mitchell had no jab and got it the worst you = glass jawed disgrace
How could this be a good fight? Ortiz quit on Maidana who couldn't box against Floyd's jock strap. He went to war, up and down with the much hyped Berto. How is he going to be competitive against a tactician with enough power to keep everyone he's faced honest?
While I somewhat agree especially about the jab. Ortiz does have great speed and power. He also has good size and is hungry as hell and will come to fight. A dangerous fight for anyone at 147. Combine this with PBF's inactivity and it should be very interesting for PBF early on. As I exepct Ortiz to jump on PBF out of the gate.
The fight is completely in PBF's hands. Depends on how long he feels is necessary to blow away any ring rust. I predict a stoppage in round 8-10. Ortiz is a potentially dangerous opponent for most fighters, but then Floyd is not most fighters.
Ortiz definitely has speed. His speed combined with his youth and workrate are going to make for an interesting fight. He can put crisp punches together and has been around boxing for a good while, so he knows many of the ins and outs. The first three rounds could go either way without a doubt. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ortiz get two of the first three rounds in this fight, even three of the first five if he goes full tilt. The trouble will be when Floyd drags him late and takes his heart, but by all means this fight is dangerous as hell.
it wont be competitive. If it happens to be competitive, then it will a be sign of Mayweather slowing down , ring rust, or both. Not taking anything away from Ortiz, but he's too green at this stage of his career, and what we have seen isn't anything extraordinary for a young guy.
the biggest difference between these two is ring iq. mayweather has a phd while ortiz is still in elementary school... and he's in special needs classes.
Ortiz has the same teacher as Pacquiao, the one teaching him how to make excuses. Pacquiao is hoping Ortiz doesn't get taught how to fight slick after Floyd, because you know he is next on the list.
