This is valid to a degree. Boxing isn't perfect but the same is happening to MMA. Fedor v Couture was a good fight. Oh no wait, it never happened. Cung Le v Silva was pretty decent and I am looking forward to Mousasi v Machida. Liddell v Silva in their primes was great to see.

If boxing was like UFC then these guys would have fought. Boxing isn't an organisation, UFC is. As soon as MMA isn't monopolised and Dream, Strikeforce and co break out then the same politics will happen. It's human nature - ego, pride, fear etc

In house big fights for the UFC is NO DIFFERENT from Arum making a mega fight with in house fighters like Pac v Cotto, Cotto v Margo etc

 

Very true, once MMA isn't monopolised I fear it will inevitably become like boxing with each org doing their thing and top fighters split amongst them and almost never meeting.
That's why to a degree I'm actually happy UFC dominates, as far as match ups go they pretty much give the fans what they want. The politics with regards to contracts is another thing but hey, wtf do I care, I get to see best vs best with some damn good undercards (most of the time).

I'm cool with how it is. UFC the big one and small orgs helping the left overs earn money.

Fedor is already product of boxing like politics. Money, fights not happening etc

With UFC as the big dog, MMA is a single product dependent on them. If they don't deliver, it will fail so generally they will deliver like they always have.
