Saul Alvarez was forced to go the distance for just the second time in his past 13 contests, but still did more than enough to take a near-shutout win over former 140 lb titlist Lovemore N’Dou in their 12-round main event Saturday evening in Veracruz, Mexico.

The bout wasn’t anywhere close to the explosive performance Alvarez delivered against former lineal welterweight king Carlos Baldomir less than three months ago, but was enough to get the job done here and keep the capacity crowd of 20,000 or so pleased with the final outcome.

I was not expecting a KO but was hoping to be surprised(like he did vs Baldo).

    Not sold 100% on Canelo(yet?)

I was expecting may'be a late KO or wide UD. He looked good though he fought a quality, durable, opponent and did his job. It was yet another good stepping stone fight for the young Canelo.

Canelo seems very solid, but thus far I haven't seen the "it" factor. He falls just flat of something for me to get completely excited about. He's still very young, though!

I was actually more impressed with Alvarez this fight here vs Ndou, than his blowout of Baldomir.......

.......its fighters that are there to survive which to some extent is what Ndou did tonight.....its these fighters that make an aggressive fighter like Alvarez look bad, but in fact Alvarez was'nt discouraged that he was'nt able to land that right shots that would wobble Ndou.....

Alvarez just cooly kept at it and against a pretty good defense worked a fundamentally sound and experienced veteran like Ndou and looked good and free flowing in the process.

Baldomir got knocked out because he showed up to throwdown........

Ndou was content to see the final bell, and those types of fighters dont seldom get knocked out.

Exellent performance by Canelo in both Baldomir and Ndou fights.

Its better for a fighter like him to get in some rounds than to KO opponents early.

That's exactly what I was thinking during the fight.:deal

Too be fair he's still learning and is not physically primed so he'll be an even better fighter in a couple of years but the kid's already a huge celebrity and there's a good chance he might lose his hunger and pull a Bojado.

Hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if he is a washed-out boxer by his mid twenties!

If you arent sold on Canelo yet then you dont know anything about Mexican Boxing.

Canelo is the truth and the next superstar cashcow when Pacquiao and Floyd retire.

Canelo is only 21 isnt he? This kid is going to be so good in 3 or 4 years. I expect he will be beaten when he steps up or gets put into a title fight, but I truly expect him to be the next Superstar of boxing and be an impressive champion

Well ****. He could conceivably be the 147-154 champion within the next year
