Duran isbthe original pacquiao. He is marketed like a fighter of the people who dies in the ring for his fans but when itaball said and done full of excuses and no real hard stats to support their nut huggers.
Well I don't think you can take one fight out of about 120 and come to that conclusion. Duran definitely was one of the best inside fighters and most skilled fighters in the history of the sport. That one incidence doesn't change that.
No but neither does his wins change his quit against leanard, his unwillingness to give him respect, and if he did party, his lacking of discipline in preparation. I'm a Duran fan. But it happened.
Of course it doesn't change it. What happened, happened. But credit to Duran, after it happened, the country of Panama in which he was a national hero, gave up on him, Arcel/Brown his long time trainers, quite on him, he lost all his sponsors, and couldn't leave his house, even Don King threw him under the bus. But instead of quitting, he eventually worked his way back into contention, and beat Davy Moore for the jr middleweight title, almost beat Hagler and went on to beat Barkely, who had just come off a KO win over Hearns. Takes a real man to make that kind of comeback under those circumstances.
