What makes duran great in my book is his fight with hagler.

    its not about whos better
    its about why he quit
i love duran, but he wasnt gonna win that night so he bitched out
its a LOSS in the books

you can put asterisk by everyone that has ever lost ,but they still lost in the history books

leonard "cheated duran" by "making him" sign a contract when it wasnt enough time

Tyson lost to douglas because he wasnt training and banging every one in japan

DLH lost to pac cause he was "weight drained"

Dawson lost to Ward cause he was "weight drained"

Leonard lost to duran in fight 1 because he chose to "brawl"

so to give Duran full credit for beating leonard in fight 1 and ZERO credit to Leonard for beating him in fight 2 is laughable and ignorant

At the end of the day, he bloated damn near 70 pounds (He made the mistake of relaxing after reaching the "peak", the way Frazier did after he beat Ali.)

Don King being the shitlord that he is enticed him with millions (even though Arcel telling him he needed more than 5 months to prepare, knowing Duran's habit of overeating and blowing up in weight.)

Leonard knowing all of this set the plan in motion, demanding a rematch as quick as he could so he could exploit it.

He never was a on his toes dancer in his career, (Hagler fight being the only other time) his best performances before and after (Price/D.B Green, Benitez, Hearns I, Kalule, Finch) were him employing his search and destroy mode. Dazzling the opponent with great hand speed and power being in every shot of those flurries, often bull rushing his man before he could get anything back in retaliation.

THAT Leonard is the SRL that makes him an ATG. Not that I'm giving Duran a pass for quitting, he made his choice and had to deal with the consequences for the rest of his life.

Leonard danced when he knews he his speed on the inside wasnt gona be enough. Like hagler and duran. He was smart in that way. Mayweather has fought this whay his whole career. Thats what make these guys better than him

To me it just looked like Duran was sick of chasing Leonard and getting teased and taunted while hitting fresh air so thats why he quit:huh

Looked like Leonard found a way to win the easy way while Duran wanted him to stand still so he could hit him like the last time they met :think

when u go into a fight knowing that your opponent is diminished...and that is part of your plan to beat him, i can't commend that.

so in the case of pac and his weight drained opponents...i can't give credit to all of them. dlh signed his own death certificate. cotto didn't want the catchweight and was forced into it by arum. hatton could only gain 5lbs after the initial weigh in. not all of those are legit wins in my book. yes...put an asterisk next to them shits.

as for ward/dawson...dawson got what he asked for.

leonard didn't cheat duran...but his strategy going into the fight was to beat him because they knew he would have trouble making weight on such a short notice. duran wanted out of the fight. his manager told him there would be lawsuits. he believed his manager. i'm sorry...that's not a legit win in my book.

douglas/tyson doesn't compare. douglas was a long shot. tyson believed the bull**** merchant spewed about 10% of mike tyson beats 100% of anyone else. tyson underestimated his opponent and got his ass whooped.

leonard didn't exactly stand still in their first fight.
