Obviously the boards at ESB are going to blow up after tonight's event. But let's try to keep some perspective. No matter what happens tonight: 1. Neither fighter gets exposed -- This is a current champion fighting a previous champion. Both are in great shape and ready to fight. The better man will win, but there's no shame in losing a fight like this. 2. Floyd's resume is still open to justifiable criticism -- Tonight won't erase all the could-have-been fights. 3. Floyd's status as one of the most talented fighters to ever lace up the gloves is not. 4. Boxing will be both better and worse for it -- Either a legacy will be enhance or a new star will be born. But, if Mayweather wins, boxing has the problem of the fight(s) that can't happen. If Ortiz wins, he won't bring the widespread audience to his next fight. Antonio Tarver beat RJJ, but he couldn't replace him. These are the nights we look forward to as boxing fans. Our sport is the center of attention and the card is stacked with some good names. Enjoy. Please feel free to add to my list.
I'll tell you exactly what will happen tonight. Floyd beats Pac's sparring partner by UD 11-1. The drama ends if there really was any.
