Interesting that he had no respect for Stevens power. This time, his defense was a lot better, although Stevens is better technically than Lem.

    Floyds first PPV was Gatti.
GGG was a ****ing attempt at a unification. By those standards if you feel that the Gatti PPV was justified then by the same token so is GGG's UNIFICATION fight.

PBF was already a proven fighter who had beaten elite guys when he fought Gatti while GGG on the other hand hasn't. Not to mention Gatti unlike Lemeiux was a media darling and a bigger star than PBF was.

    Because he's a smart boxer?

If he traded shots all night you'd be here talking about how GGG's defense sucks and he's a mindless slugger.

GGG really approached this fight differently because he apparently respected Lemieux's power. He had a gameplan and executed it perfectly. I thought it was impressive, especially after seeing him eat so much leather when fighting Monroe. Guess we know why that happened now.

I also liked that GGG didn't go ape**** chasing Lemieux around looking for the KO after hurting him. He did that in round 3 of the Monroe fight and punched himself out. Against Lemieux he stayed calm and collected and just kept working.

I don't see how this has boiled down to whether it should've been a PPV or not. HBO executives that run and work that side of business thought it should be a PPV. So clearly your opinion is null to them.

His style definitely did change. Tbh I feel like he didn't display that great of a performance. What he needed was a win like he had over Rosado. The people I watched it with thought the stoppage was premature EVEN though he was clearly dominating

He used "mexican-style" after round 5. He starting stalking and pressuring Lemieux after he saw he was finished.

GGG was terrified of ending the fight in 1 or 2 rounds and exposing his first PPV for the farce and utter mismatch it was. Thats the only reason he threw nothing but jabs for 4 rounds and backed off every time Lemieux looked hurt.

Stevens hits harder and is better technically than DL, the more dangerous opponent all round and Golovkin was opening up trying to get him out of there from the opening bell. This BS about GGG being cautious because he was afraid of Lemieuxs power is laughable, David couldn't even stop the man with no chin Hassan N'Dam
