By agreeing to a CW.. You know, like GREAT champions have and do.. Bernard Hopkins MW champion met ODLH WBO titlist at 156. :deal Not everyone is Hopkins, nor has the ba11s Hopkins has.
Corrupt RULES??!? Perhaps the WBC is corrupt, but in any fair world a guy who has defeated 6 top 10 contenders in the last 3 1/2 years, including the IBF champion, should absolutely get a shot at the WBC title. In fact I would say that if boxing had a legit and fair governing body Canelo would be suspended for this sort of **** move.
I've already debunked this claim on another thread. Hopkins had no reason to agree to the 158 stipulation (the weight was not 156, though that was what he actually scaled at the weight in). Had he told DLH to take a hike then nobody would have taken DLH's claim to middleweight champ status seriously, all and sundry had Hopkins as real champ. However, Hopkins got $10m to fight at a weight he knew he could easily make (he weighed in at 157 for his title winning bout against Mercado and the Trinidad unification). Pay GGG $10m and I'm sure Canelo will get his catchweight.
"hey Ward let's fight" Mah tune up, doe! "Hey Chavez let's fight" Gotta wash mah hair, doe! "Hey Froch let's fight" My wife said I can't :deal
MIDDLEWEIGHT is probably the most historically prestigious division, outside of heavyweight. Golovkin will be better off soldifying his legacy at 160 rather than moving to "super middle". I mean, it's the difference between being compared to Monzon, Hagler, Robinson .... or being compared to Calzaghe and Eubank.
Are you really a sun child, because if you are not I will....well...I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this. Leave it with me for the moment. I may get back to you but if I don't then just be glad our paths crossed. Wait, what? Just fuck off.
At this point I think he hangs around MW to break the record, then perhaps move up. Maybe he gets a title shot at a 168 belt, but decides to only defend it at 163..cause he's the A side
There are still good fights for GGG at 160 so no urgent need to move up but let's be honest Badou Jack would be easily his best win.
