I know I'm wasting my time posting this, but that's what I'm here to do, waste time.

There is absolutely 0 point to want a fifth. Before this fourth installment, it was such an obvious pick that Marquez was going to win. Vazquez has lost so much from this series it was painfull to think about him going into that fight.

Luckily it ended sooner before later. I'm pretty sure Izzy will stay retired.

If you really want Marquez vs Vazquez V GTFO of here, if you wanna watch someone get massacared, go watch the ufc fight penn vs stevenson or some ****.

You have to realize that, with or without each other, these men are going to carry on. So it cones down to a simple choice. Do you want:

Vazquez and Marquez to face power punching, prime, bigger stronger men like Lopez, for less money?

    Or...

Do you want to see them fight each other, take less punishment, and make more money?

In an ideal world, I wouldn't see a fifth fight, no, but I realize that this isn't ideal and both men still have to fight to support their families. They're caught between a rock and a hard place because they're going to suffer whatever they choose to do. However, a fifth fight will generate lots of money and you know what? They deserve that.

Well I think Raf has enough left to be competitive with someone like Lopez, but I knew Vaz had alot more damage still lingering going into this IVth fight, and saturday night solidified my thoughts.

Obviously I never want to see a faded legend punished by someone he normally would have destroyed however many years prior.

But I will say, strictly on a money level, I'd rather see them make more fighting each other than a young gun that could massacare them.

I say no more threads on a 5th match, because competition wise, the match is irrelevant in a 5th fight, it will strictly be how long Vazquez can make it before his eyeball falls out of his head.

    Yeah, I agree, mate.

In an ideal world, I'd prefer Vazquez didn't fight again. If he chooses too, I'd like to see him in a fifth fight with Marquez as it mass the most money and he has a lesser chance of getting hurt. It's actually the only fight I'd travel to America to see right now and, if it happens, I'll be there - Not so much to see a good fight but to show appreciation.

As for Marquez, I thought he looked great. I have no doubts that he'd beat Caballero and possibly Gamboa and Lopez. They are tough fights though.

What about just one more thread about how these 2 warriors have been grossly underpaid for their services?

    I agree.

Vazquez gave the rest of career up for this series, and I'm sure Marquez isn't far behind.

Hopefully they will use their money wisely and enjoy a good retirement.

I really don't know why Vazquez took this fight. Its almost impossible to come back from a detached retina. Only one I know was Leonard and he was a defensive boxer.

Vazquez is not a defensive fighter. He's a guns blazing fighter. I hope he retires, I respect him as a fighter and don't really want to see put his life in jeopardy.

I really believe Izzy took the fourth fight strictly for money. And he earned big money fights.

    Luckily it ended fast.

Marquez did a good job tieing the score. But even if he wins the fifth fight I still have Vazquez ahead. Seems like he fought a shell of Vasquez. Vasquez still won two major fights when it mattered. Watching all three you can tell Marquez is the better fighter. Vazquez just won with heart.

the problem here is they never got to fight the big money earners at 122-126 like barrera, morales, jmm and pac. barrera and morales had already retired before then and pac and jmm were already at a much higher weight class for a possible fight. this multi-million earners of the lower weights started with hamed and then barrera, morales, pac and jmm caught it by fighting one another. but i agree that they deserve much much more than what they got.

Vazquez was a complete shell last night. But none the less, Marquez went through the wars with Izzy, so props to Marquez.

The Vazquez vs Marquez saga showed what could happen when will outweighs skill.

I think Vasquez took the most damage in the trilogy. Even though he won it.

Izzy had more wars before the Marquez fights. Rafael wasn't as beat up going into the series. I don't wanna see Vasquez go the "I just need the money, man" route, so hopefully he took this nice little paycheck and plans to invest it wisely.

Does anyone know how much money these lads got for the four fights?
