Piss on that. If you hold a belt you are supposed to be a champion, meaning you are one of the best. To be the best you have to fight the best. These guys winning belts and then taking 3 or more tuneups fights until they fight another champ is ridiculous
Id like to see the fight happen early next year as i prefer loma to fight garcia before fighting davis but if he fights davis after linares that's fine to.
Exactly, that's why I laugh when people try saying Loma's loss to Salido was a fluke. With all those fights in the AM's, 2 Olympics, no one can tell me Loma and his team did not know what they were getting into. He reached for glory and just fell short. If only he had pulled it off, his legend would unbelievable!
Lomachenko beat Salido, he was cheated by Lawrence Cole and the Texas judges, at least two of them, it was a split decision. Salido should have been disqualified, but Cole is the worst referee in boxing, even the commentators were complaining. He had Salido out on his feet in the last round, I had his winning the fight and so did one judge and the commentators, but Cole was there to cheat. Texas and Vegas are the two worst for cheating!
If they would fight 10-20-30 times who would win ? I also think even though an ATG amateur, Loma never fought more than 5rds before the Salido fight. Then straight to full 12 rds. Against a rugged bigger guy. Huge step I would say. Very few boxers would even dare to consider attempting such a feat Salido's win is the definition of a fluke. The stars aligned for a warrior like Siri to have his own page in boxing's history ( if nobody beats Loma again)
Salido may have missed weight and fought dirty, but Loma made the call to go through with the fight after he missed and do it in Texas. He gained a lot of respect from me for not making excuses even if they were there to be made. The funny thing is, that loss was probably the best thing that could've happened to him. Dude got years worth of pro experience in one fight and a chip on his shoulder that will probably drive him the rest of his career.
Honestly, I think his pride got the better of him. He fought like he was trying to prove a point, that Salido's cheating ass wasn't going to make a bit of difference. He stood in front of the bigger man when he didn't need to.
I think you're right that his pride/stubbornness to get dirty himself came back to bite him. Contrast that to the Rigo fight, and i can see where the lesson learned got applied.
