I'll do ! I have exams at the moment & I also play soccer so I can only go 2 times a week to the boxing gym ( once only last week ! ). I have a friend who does Kyokushin, as for myself, I did Kempo Karate ( american variant created by Ed Parker ), I know it's not the most liked Karate style ( in the karate community at least ) as you also learn boxing, grappling etc instead of only the regular Karate strikes, but it's a well rounded martial art mainly for self defense. I'm a black belt second degree. I've been told that a lot ... Not proud of it. but what can I do about it ? I usually perform well when my coach praise whatever I do ( I'm also really good at copying & adapting people stance, techniques etc for myself. which might be why I act like that ... :/ )
Great athletes don't wait until they lose to adjust. They are striving to get better all the time before the results catch up with them. Prime Tiger Woods won the Masters in record fashion ... and completely retooled his swing to be more dominant (before his personal breakdown and fall and the physical problems that followed). The best baseball pitchers look to add pitches and improve the pitches they have while they are at the top, not after they get knocked around to the point that their careers are threatened. If a boxer has a really good right hand and he's winning fights with it but doesn't do what's necessary to bring his jab and hook and footwork up to become well-rounded, he's going to find himself on the losing end soon enough. Ask yourself: Are you so good now that you cannot improve? Do you really want to lose before you try to get better ... even if that means you might get beat up in the process? Ultimately the question is, how good do you want to be? And what are you willing to do to become the best you can be? Because while you're treading water and not improving, some future opponent is working his tail off to get to the point where he's going to beat you.
And it applies to everything, not just boxing. One of the best posts i've read here so far. [emoji106]
