Terry Downes had a good shot at it. He was ahead by all accounts when Willie Pastrano got to him in the 11th.

I know this is gonna **** people off...

    Haye wasnt undisputed at CW.

I'm not knocking the fella. He was the man. He was linear. But he wasnt undisputed...

Great fight and great acheivement at the weekend nonetheless. Hope he goes on to build a legacy at HW.

He held 3 of the 4 belts which is enough on it's own to be considered undisputed but if that wasn't enough he was also the lineal and ring champion I would say he was undisputed.

Agree with Paddy but last time we discussed this it went to 10 pages and ended up more like an English lecture than a boxing thread!!

Ruby Robert (who even in a suit looked like a blacksmith) was a US citizen when he won his world titles but he always regarded himself as English, if that makes any difference. I suppose he passes "The cricket test".
The hideous fragmentation of world titles in recent decades dilutes Haye's two-title, two-weight achievement (through no fault of his own). Paul Weir won two world titles at different weights, for example.
