great video Jeff. I strongly suggest you read this book as you or any other coaches on here will find it very interesting.

also a lot of people have been talking strength and conditioning. all important but dont neglect technique. I am naturally pretty weak. no real natural strength, no real natural expolsive power. poor sprinter etc but lots of work on my technique and trying to be as fast as possible means i can punch pretty well with a few shots. a few lack impoact but my hooks, uppercuts smack home!

technique, technique technique. concentrate on rotating from your feet up, through hips, core to shoulders and the power will come :)

Damn, your coach really told you that? Get a new gym ASAP. As far as what style you should adopt, its really difficult to say without seeing you hit the pads or spar. With that said, I've often seen fighters who lack hand speed or power compensate with workrate, physical strength(very different from punching power) and conditioning. 1) Get a new gym that is open to novices 2) Watch film(youtube) of great swarmers who weren't super athletes or devastating punchers(LaMotta, Armstrong, etc). 3) Get in shape and be prepared to use your fitness as a weapon. Remember that there are many ways to win a boxing match. You will, however, need to be in much better shape than your opposition so that you are able to outwork them, preferably on the inside to nullify any athletic advantages they may possess over you, without gassing. Now go out and make it happen!

You should also check out Dwight Braxton for an example of a fighter who compensated for obvious talent deficiencies with superior conditioning and an outstanding workrate to the body.

Did he really mean it? What were the exact words, if you remember.. No offense plz..
Sometimes, when you think that "this" is what you want to hear and when people speak you somehow transform them to "this"..

You may try giving some more chance, I would say.. Good Luck :good
