I would like to reword what I said about Johnson and Tarver not being good enough to compete at HW..

I mean, neither Jones, Johnson or Tarver had HW frame.. But Jones is the only one out of the group who's combination of speed, power, and legs were able to make up for the size disadvantage against a smothering HW fighter like Ruiz.

I feel like Tarver and Johnson would have been caught on the ropes, and smothered and beat up. Even though Ruiz wasn't known as a powerful Hw, but to a LHW, it would have felt like much harder punches, and would have been exhausting to be hit and smothered for 12 rounds.

In his prime Roy never got hit with a punch with full on muster on it and the one time he did against Lou Del Valle, his legs turned into spaghetti and he fell forward badly.

Roy never had a good or sturdy chin at all.

    Gotta disagree Benny..

He was whacked pretty good by Toney in an exchange, I think it was in round 5.. Totally snapped his head back. He did nothing but retaliate with a combo of his own...

The announcers at the end of the round said they were impressed with Roy's ability to take Toney's stiff shots.

Took a few hard ones from Griffin too, in his 3rd weight moving up.

Got hit by Tarver with several loaded punches in the first fight... Some of those punches were harder than shots that have since knocked him out or put him on ***** street..

Took a few clean shots from Ruiz, a HW that knocked down Holyfield...

His punch resistance declined big time.. I pretty much consider it a fact supported by video evidence...

Not saying it was ever a great chin, but it wasn't that bad.

    You both do.
On another thread Zod even said that a fighter cant be ducking another fighter if they are in different weight division, then tried to say Calzaghe at SMW ducked Jones, until video evidence schooled him.
You went on about fighters not getting a shot if they dont fight in America first and yet forget how Dzinziruk who was a WBO LMW champ got to fight leading to MW Martinez in America and yet you make excuses for Jones.
You both chop and change dramatically.

    Still thanks for the welcome

    Bailey,

I know your fishing, because nobody could be this stupid. But I'll play along, it's all good fun.

Joe at 27 years old STRUGGLED with Robin Reid, but guess what? He would of outclassed Roy at his peak. Haha! Funniest **** I've ever heard!

Joe would have knocked him out? Ha!

He wouldn't even have fought him when he was peak. He wouldn't fight him when he was in his early 30's, so there's no way in hell he'd have fought Roy in his mid 20's. It's absolutely laughable!

Joe dominated Roy for 11 rounds FOUR YEARS after Glen dominated and knocked him cold in 9 rounds! Ha!

Collins would of been embarrassed, but he'd still have been there at the final bell.

Benn wouldn't have had the chance to smash Roy.

Eubank would of been tough, but It's irrelevant really, because he was never bothered about big money fights, or fighting in America. He's admitted as much on numerous occasions. The fight was never viable.

Roch, now you've given yourself away. You must be laughing with tears rolling down your face, typing up this **** ha!

    Regards, Loudon.

Your video evidence hasn't schooled anyone!

I stand by every opinion I make, and I don't chop and change anything. I'm not bothered what's happened with Martinez. Times have changed a fair bit over the last ten years. But when Joe was at SMW, and he said he wanted Roy for the crown jewels, it wasn't possible, because outside of Europe he wasn't well known enough.

No network or promoter was going to pay him the money that he wanted.

I said, that for Joe to get a huge payday, he would of had to have gone to the States and made a name for himself, to drum up interest in the fight. But he wasn't bothered about going over, and he wasn't bothered about moving up in weight.

He was happy defending his WBO belt for decent money at home, and that was fair enough. But by doing that, he was never going to get an opportunity to fight Roy.

I've explained all this on the Tarver, Woods, Jones thread.

Joe was a great fighter! But fighting Brewer, Woodhall, Veit, Pudwell and Jiminez at 168, in Britain and Germany, was never going to get him a fight with Roy at 175, for huge money. That's a cold hard fact, that can't be disputed, even by you!

I'm sure you could find other examples, like you have with Martinez. But I'm talking about Joe's predicament over ten years ago.

    Regards, Loudon.

Prime Roy Jones might not have had a glass chin, because no one for sure knows the effect of the weight drain. Nevertheless, prime RJJ doesn't get hit with KO shots. It's not just the skills, but the mentality and confidence of being in your prime that makes someone special. RJJ and Ali in their prime are the only two fighters in history that look a level above elite in my eyes... unbeatable.

Montell Griffin I and Tarver I

In fact in the De Valle fight, he act a very very clean straight left earlier and reacted very well to it.

Spinks was a beast at LHW...

Toney and Roy had the best chance, wouldn't pick either over him though. I don't think he would knock out Toney either.
