according to this there is no rematch clause for khan/peterson:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/dec/11/lamont-peterson-beats-amir-khan-split?newsfeed=true

I think Peterson should rematch khan for the huge payday but.....

he should stipulate the location, require most of the gate and percentages of all PPV especially anything in England and change the month, control it all and of course really prepare well for the fight,

Peterson is a good humble guy but I think he should really do this....hopefully his management takes care of business... he should make sure he gets paid really good and calls all the shots to put everything in his favor

if Khan does not agree to it, then screw him

Lmao you want peterson to demand most of the british revenue for the rematch? That is called pricing yourself out of a fight.

a majority of the proceeds, aka more than 50%

khan has to take it if he wants any hope of having a mediocre career at this point

I would make Khan squirm in order to get the rematch.. Don't know about demanding most of the uk revenue but I would demand 50% and insist on the fight being in vegas.

Khan has behaved like a spoilt little twat since his involvement in the sport and has never issued a rematch to fighters who have deserved one against him in the past.

this....he should also fight a couple fights before the rematch which would leave khan having to rematch prescott or maidana. petersons management should play their cards right and make this hard on khan

**** that. Khan was the champ and went into Lamont's back yard to take that fight, and it ended up costing him the fight. Let's be honest, if that fight doesn't take place in DC, he gets the decision. Lamont owes him the rematch big time, considering his career was going nowhere fast before Khan gave him the chance of a lifetime.

Lol i know. Im surprised people like this post in a boxing forum. They have such bitter hatred for khan it clouds their judgement. Khan was the one who offered lamont his titles in his own backyard and these people think it is right for lamont to NOT return the favour?!
Its people like that who you can tell just want Khan to fail regardless and had a field day after the Peterson fight.

If i defeated my opponent in a contraversial close tussle in my backyard and then ran away from him for a rematch, I would be called a coward and rightly so..

What you'll notice is that guys like the one I quoted above and the OP aren't really boxing fans. If they were, they'd want to see the rematch to that fight again in a heartbeat, instead of strategizing revenue splits and strongarm negotiating tactics.

All these talks about Lamont shouldn't give Khan a rematch blah blah.

Khan brings the $$$ and if Khan were to go fight someone else and say get KTFO, Lamont would lose the chance to cash in.

Most boxers fight for the $$$ rather than due to spite despite what most try to get you to believe.

Khan didn't give Peterson ****. Peterson was the mando. Khan was a 12/1 favorite. The reason the fight was in D.C is because; 1, Khan needs to fight in America to raise his profile here and get a fight with Mayweather(ala Hatton), 2, he can't sell tickets on his own which meant fighting in D.C was the only way they would make any money at the gate to help pay his high purse, and 3 Khan and his team were totally dismissive of Peterson. During the buildup to this fight Khan talked way more about Mayweather than he did Peterson.

And you're right, had the fight been in Vegas or overseas, Khan wins. But the reason for that is because those places would've allowed Khan to continually break the rules without consequence just like he's been doing throughout his career, and the judges would give Khan the benefit of the doubt in rounds he didn't deserve. Even in D.C, one judge saw fit to give Khan 9 rounds. Make no mistake about it, Peterson owes Khan nothing. Peterson earned his shot, and earned that win. Had Khan won a controversial decision, no way in hell would Khan ever rematch him. If I'm Peterson, I would definitely do the rematch. However, he is under no obligation to do so, especially not immediately.

Great Post hopefully this puts these threads to a end because its a shame how Peterson gets no credit for the win people just keep making excuse after excuse for why Khan lost.....And everyone who says Cooper is an inexperienced ref I wouldn't call 36 previous world championship matches Inexperienced he just didnt let ODLH pay him off to let Khan get away with the pushing and holding because he was telling Khan from the opening bell stop pushing and stop pulling his head down.....

    taken from maxboxing

“The official statement from the Peterson side is simply this: how many young fighters you know in Lamont’s position have fought Timothy Bradley, have fought Victor Ortiz, have fought Victor Cayo and then turn around and fight Amir Khan? Lamont’s never had an easy career. Now, we could’ve taken the path of some of the other fighters coming to get a title, old fighters that’s going out the door or fighters that really shouldn’t be licensed and get these guys titles. But, nah, we lay our heart on the line; we went out there and we fought. So now I think it’s time for us to think about Lamont’s future as far as his daughter is concerned, Lamont’s future as far as himself and his health. It’s a business. Now, we gotta start looking at it that way.”

While many fans (and Khan and Golden Boy) may clamor for an immediate return bout, Peterson and his team will explore all their possibilities

Good for him. Of course Lamont should do what is best for himself. Just sayin' Khan rematch is probably best for him due to the money and from what I have read, adjusted to Khan once he figured out his speed. Let's get it on.
