There was none on this board. Many of you guys showed your ignorance by slagging the guy as a bum when it was pretty clear most of you talking crap had never seen the guy fight, just assuming Valuev would destroy him. I didn't see the fight, but by all accounts it was close, and a few people told me they had JFB winning and that even the German crowd booed the decision. There are knowledgeable posters on this board, but too often people talk junk with zero analysis or substance to back up their statements.
here you can see the boring Valuev fight http://www.myvideo.de/news.php?rubrik=uoijv&searchWord=valuev&searchChannel=&searchOrder=
Valuev proved he is a bum by selecting an unknown for an opponent. Then almost lost to him. Only thing he did more then Bergeron is move forward and pressed the "action", but he was beaten to the punch for most parts of the fight.
You are right, man. I have to apologize for my jokes about Bergeron. The fight was close, so he is on the same level as Donald, Ruiz, Chagaev. He had a gameplan and scored well.
My apologies as well. I just think that he looks damn funny. I have respect for him being a fighter and all but goddamn he looks like my avatar :blood
I scored the fight for Bergeron. He scored on clean punching (landing with those straight lefts over and over, stunning Valuev in the 2nd which the German broadcast won't even show in the highlights, that should tell you something), ring generalship (avoiding Valuev's jab all night, step in, land, step out), defense (Valuev only started landing with consistency from round 10 on) and effective agressiveness (when he came in, he usually landed, when Valuev came forward he missed most and was agressive but not effective). Valuev came on really nice from round 10 when he ducked almost everytime Bergeron came forward, but i had him losing already too many early and mid rounds to still win it. Bergeron did not impress me that much, but i thought he took it. Valuev is just too hard to beat, you can't knock him out, the crowd responds mostly to his actions and the judges will always favor him in close fights (Bergeron, Ruiz, Donald).
Don't give into the hype. It was a landslide. The crowed booed not because of the way decision went but by how marginal it was. 118-111 is DECENT score, mine was 117-112. AT BEST(for Bergeron) it was 116-113. Theres no ****in way someone could score this fight for Bergeron unless you don't know a jab from a cross or you're EXTREMELY biased. Bergeron did decent but it WAS an easy fight for Valuev.
Bergeron did a good job avoiding Valuev most of the time. But I guess it took him too much efforts and in the last 3 rounds he could offer anything back. Yes, he made the giant look bad for while but one cannot win circling around and throwing 5 or 6 punches per round. I guess from now one everyone fighting Valuev will follow the pattern. Run alot and throw fast but light punches in order to get the audience approval. I had it 116-112 for Valuev.
Well, it was a bad fight, even for Valuev's standard, that's why Bergeron didn't look like the bum he is. It doesn't require a lot of skill to run along the ropes for the whole fight and 3-4 times per round storm in trying to land a left hoping to surprise Valuev. There is absolutely no doubt that Valuev won the fight, 7-5 or 8-4 is about right. People that have Bergeron winning are just plain haters, that's all.
You should probably watch the fight, then. Bergeron did nothing to warrant any more respect than he was already getting (which was little). I'm not saying Valuev looked good either, but to his credit, Bergeron was running away from him the whole fight.
