    Although my Bergeron avatar is a little tongue-in-cheek, I was genuinely rooting for Bergeron to win the fight.

    WTF is it about running!!!??? Mayweather is running, Bergeron is running. Hell, the guy in front of him was 100lbs heavier and 7 feet tall. You guys would stand and trade?:patsch

    It's a gameplan like any other. It's less exciting i'll admit but requires a lot of discipline. Don't you guys think he wanted to step in when he shook Valuev in the second? He said on a radio interview that he saw Valuev's knees buckle in the second, he didn't press because it was only the second round and he didn't want to gass out.

    Remembering something? Taylor maybe?:!:

    He was intelligent by keeping his distance and not going toe to toe with the monster. I would have ran out of the ring.

    Props to Bergeron for a nice and intelligently fought bout.:rasta

    It's called boxing. He's supposed to stand and trade right hands with a guy that has 100+ pounds him? Get real. Bergeron moved and countered. If he would have let his hands go a bit more, he could have won.

    My point was that all these guys were screaming how much he sucked before the fight when it was clear they had never seen the guy.

    I had seen several of his fights and knew there were skills there that would probably prevent Valuev from stopping him and would make the bout competitive.

    It was no foty, but Bergeron can box and it would be interesting to see him in there with other guys in the top 15 or so. JFB belongs in the top 20 or 25.

    I haven't watched the whole fight yet, will post my score later.

    I'm pretty sure the strategy was to make Valuev chase him and consequently tire the much bigger man. This was a tactic employed successfully by Chagaev. The difference between Chagaev and Bergeron though, is that Chagaev was actually throwing punches. Sure, Bergeron put together a few impressive combinations, even wobbling Valuev in the 2nd, but he was far too tentative overall to make statement.

    Bergeron is a decent fighter, but was just pipped to the post.. The size make that slight difference.. If they were both say 6 ft 4 it would have been a different case.

    I am not comparing Chagaev with Bergeron though. Chagaev is WAY better.:rasta
