Hi, darling dame. Are you in fact a 60yo darling dame? You'll find there are quite a few cougar hunters down in the "Lounge" subforum. As for the lack of respect for European champions, there is a general sense of omnidirectional resentment and sequestered jingoism among the pyramid base of boxing fandom these days; the lowest common denominator like to split things along nationalistic lines (if not ethnic/racial) and flock exclusively to feather. The worst of these (on all sides) will literally go out of their way to discredit anyone "different". History will acquit both Klitschko brothers, particularly Wladimir, as dominant heavyweight champions. As for Tomasz Adamek, every scrap of success at heavyweight is just another chapter in an almost fairytale storybook - a light heavyweight written off after losing to Dawson goes on to achieve world title success at a higher weight (possibly two)? Insane. People hating on Adamek are just bitter fans of his past or potentially future rivals.
I think a lot of Euro fighters (especially Slav, Russian, German) don't get much respect from non-Euro fans because whilst these fighters have good boxing fundamentals and are very effective with it, they lack the skills and razzmatazz of their American counterparts. Whether you are very skilled or just basic and tough or whether you have a crowd pleasing style or not, you should ultimately be judged on how effective you are. Unfortunately a lot of other people don't share these sentiments and good, solid fighters with good resumes are dismissed because they don't throw fluid 7 shot combinations and don't have foot work like Fred Astaire.
I'm American and happen to like many European fighters - not quite as exciting as American/Mexican/Puerto Rican fighters but very enjoyable for me. Hit and don't get hit is the name of the game and the Klitchko brother know what they are about...

other than having one of the top 5 avatars, that's a damn fine post klits are disrespect by some, praised by others and in the end, i think it balances out. as you said, history will favour both. i find them exciting but i don't fault those that don't. not everyone has to, or will, like every fighter. back in his day, people ****ing hated larry holmes but his rep is just fine
If they were american. Everybody on this site would be praising them. I love the Klits and Im from canada. Wlad controls every fight his way and gets KOs most of the time. He does wait to long but he wins. VIT is amzing. The beating he gave Fat Chris was amazing. It was a ****ing first class beating. Kevin J fight was a brutal fight but what ever , he still landed a **** load of punches and got rite of that bum for good. And Huck would crush Adamek at cruiser in my mind
