With Louis, I think the round about of champions in the 30's goes longer, with Pastor and Farr, and maybe a shocker Two Ton Toney shareing the crown lol. Perhaps Walcott reins earlier and longer before Chalres, who knows. Ali, well, Liston's rein may last a lot longer in the 1960's, Thinks the 1970's would play out pretty much the same with Frazier being king, Foreman wins title, perhaps loses to Young? Maybe or rules until Holmes comes in at least. Robinson? He was in the mix for the middleweight title for years winning it 5 times. I think the guys he lost and beat would just rein longer, and lose it to each other in there own defenses.
Good call on Jersey Joe!. But I dont see George Losing to Young. And I agree with you on Robinson, Jake still runs the show though
Walcott would have taken the place of Louis under Blackburn's tutelage, and the management of Roxborough and Black. With his talent, his reign may well have overlapped that of Louis with that kind of support structure. Take Robby out of the WW picture, then Tommy Bell succeeds to Servo's vacated title. At MW, Lamotta still gets weakened by the attrition of having to make weight. I think Bobo Olson becomes the most likely beneficiary of Jake's weight issues to succeed him. Edouardo Lausse may well become an element of the title picture, easily the most dangerous MW not to get a shot during the 1950s. Defending just once or twice a year, Liston could get through most of the 1960s with championship in hand, until somebody from the Bonavena-Frazier-Jerry Quarry-Mac Foster crop breaks through as Sonny fades. [Machen, this time with a good right hand, might be the best shot at producing an earlier dethroning in a championship distance rematch.]
k was on his way up First subject..No to mention The Rock up and coming... Seecond Paragraph..Ya but im talkin about the Lomatta that went to war with Robinson Third Paragraph..Quarry had no chance aginst Liston.Period!
The short answer is nobody. If you remove these fighters from the timeline, then the title changes hands a lot of times, and not just between fighters who were already champion in the timeline. In the Joe Louis example Schmeling or Baer might have regained the title, and Walcott might have got it a bit earlier, but you would also have seen somebody like Tommy Farr Lou Nova or Billy Conn hold the crown.
i agree but maybe in the case of ali.. liston would lose vs frazier and frazier would rule the game until foreman stops him.
I suspect that Liston would probably have lost the title before Frazier came along. He wasnt training properly any more, and when that happens a champion is only heading in one direction. There might have been another champion between Liston and Frazier, but I havent the faintest idea who it would have been. George Foreman likely always had the style to beat Frazier, but Frazier might have done better if he had not been coming off a helacious fight with Ali. With Foreman, things really get interesting. Unlike Liston and Frazier he did show the rare characteristics needed to be consistent at world level over a long period. Perhaps he discovers God and gives up the game, or perhaps Jimmy Young pulls the upset. Perhaps without Ali he does hold things down for much longer. Leon Spinks probably never holds the title, if he does not get to fight that version of Ali, but if Foreman leaves the game we will be seeing a shuffling of the pack around this time that might see a couple of new champions crowned.

Not sure on that, Lamotta was near the end peak wise by the time Robinson took the title, I cant really see this Jake beating the Fullmers or the Basilio's that follow in the 1950's. Prime is other story but still.
Why should Marciano be mention? He would still rise and win the title from Walcott or perhaps Charles, make his money with 5 or 6 defenses and get out. Perhaps with out Louis, Marciano retires at 48, instand of that magic 49-record.
Well, Foreman would have shined up until Jimmy Young....then Young would be considered an alltime great after that.
