Can we include bungee jumping, cabbages, swords made from hardened feces , religious fundamentalists and porn star ring girls please?
That's a perfect description of Krav Maga. Krav Maga has no rules, sanctioning bodies, belts etc though, it's a full blooded combat system to eliminate opposition in real life events. The IDF use it with brutal efficiency.
Yes Benny the Jet Urqidez had many "no rules" fights. And he was undefeated. He was probably the greatest "no rules" fighter of all time. Let me be clear, there was some rules, he couldn't kill the opponent. But it was as close to no rules as it can get. Here are some fights so you can see what no rules fighting looks like. More, no rules [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPRsA3h7zoQ[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3-PdgoI1k0[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te2-37UXPiY[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zpkvcOWdPA[/ame] I hope I'm not breaking rules of the forum posting it but it's no rules fighting from Japan.
Well, the first vid you posted was hardly a no-rules fight, more of a taekwondo display. If that were no rules the easiest way to win that would be to shoot for a takedown and lock in a submission. I really cannot fathom how the second was no-rules, it just looked like a K-1 contest. How on earth could anyone grapple, submit, gouge etc with those gloves on. I watched 2 of the vids in your second post and they were both fake so erm .. do you know what no-rules fighting actually is? It's not "boxing where the guys also kick" or "you can punch AND use the back of the glove!. Full free-fighting involves crazy arrays of grappling, holding, locking, with striking, ground and pound, pressure points, etc. All kinds of techniques found in martial arts and combat systems outlawed from competition for their sheer brutality. I'm talking like, people cranking on necks while elbowing them in the kidneys etc.
Sounds like good old classic street fighting to me. I don't see it happening. Rules are put in place for a reason and that's to protect the fighters from fatal injuries, although one can still inflict death on another with rules involve. The percentage is much higher with out them.
I doubt anything like this would ever catch on. Boxing has it's detractors even with all the safety measures and rules involved and I doubt many people could repeatedly stomach watching a life-threatening beating.
