No sane person can dismiss my claim that Joe Calzaghe is the best boxer of all time..

So you claim joe is one of the best ever and that a kessler win will cement him as no1,yes?
How can he be better than jones who you admit would beat calzaghe and was more dominant at 168?
How does beating kessler make him more dominant or able to beat jones at 168? Your whole thread logic falls down because of the existence of jones because calzaghe can never go ahead of jones and so by your reckoning will only be ever able to be number TWO.....You have defeated your own thread assertion with your own arguments and points,well done.....
ps; i dont rank joe or jones anywhere near the top ten,never mind one and two......

I respect China_hand_Joe as well as Richie Woodhall in Setanta Sports but I believe both are too found/respectful/fascinated of a particular fighter to make general analysis in contemporary boxing, let alone all time boxing history... I won't take such a challenge but not wishing Calzaghe to lose, I would be most interested where would China_hand_Joe rate the Real Joe Calzaghe in case he loses next Saturday night...

Kessler is good but not great IMO. Still, a dominant victory would mean I would regard him highly in head 2 head match ups. Jones still wins though. Look at the way Jones owned Toney, the p4p no.1 and undefeated champion at the time. The difference between Jones and Calzaghe is the way they dispose of their opposition. Prime Jones was so hard to hit, and could hit you from every angle, with GREAT power. Simply he could do things that Calzaghe can not. If Calzaghe owned a younger BHop or a current Dawson it would mean more to me. Guys like Bika and Ashira and Salem would have never gone the distance with Jones.

 

You don't have to utterly dominate every opponent to be an ATG, and first of all, who said Jeff ****in' Lacy was an ATG? He's a far cry from it, at this point he's on the borderline of hype-job bum.

Mikkel Kessler is no ATG either, especially if he loses to Calzaghe via domination. We don't even know if Calzaghe is going to win, much less dominate him.

Let's face it, the only fighters that Calzaghe has looked "ATG-esque", by your definition, have been Sako Bika, Peter Manfredo Jr....and Jeff Lacy.

Even if you twist the meaning of "ATG" into "dominates excellent competition", Calzaghe falls short.
