No sane person can dismiss my claim that Sven Ottke is the best boxer of all time..

    How can you not say that SVEN OTTKE is the GOAT?

    He has titles
    ~ WBA super middleweight title
    ~ IBF super middleweight title
    ~ WBC International light heavyweight title
    ~ German BDB light heavyweight title

    AND A GREAT RECORD

    won 34 (KO 6) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 34

    Based on his record it is hard to argue against perfection isn't it?

    After winning the IBF SMW title his next 22 fights (until retirement) were against boxers with a combined record of 642-26-10.

    You will be VERY hard pressed to find any champ anywhere who can match that number of bouts and winning percentage in his quality of opposition over a 22 fight period and he beat them ALL.

    You would have to be insane to doubt it... It is just a fact. The more I say it the truer it becomes!

    You make a good case. One argument would be Ottke's KO record and had he beaten Calz your argument would've been tougher to dismiss. I remember Calz trying to get a fight with him by being photoed with a chicken. Chicken Ottke is what Calz was calling him.

    You can perhaps claim he is one of he greatest. But unlike Joe Calzaghe he is far from the best. Ottke was beaten by a few fighters and never looked impressive on film. Whilst you can claim he is great, just watching video of Joe Calzaghe tells you Sven Ottke cannot be the best.

    Ottke has legacy but not the quality (judged from performances, talent and skill), the exact opposite of Joe Calzaghe.

    This thread is an attempt to try and discredit my earlier thread.

    It has fallen flat on it's face however as he is yet another poster failing to diffrentiate between the best (Calzaghe, Jones types - pure talent and skill) and the greatest (Robinson, Pep type good talent, great legacy).

    Ottke does indeed have one of the best mathematical resumes ever. It is all valid. However he isn't the greatest, his resume lacks the famous names and he ducked the best.

    On the other hands my argument regarding Calzaghe being the best ever is impermable. There are no arguments regarding Calzaghe having any weaknessess as a fighter or flaws. Calzaghe is the perfect boxer, the best ever. There are no definitive counter-arguments regarding the brilliance of Joe Calzaghe. Video evidence supports my claim and also the manner in which he demolished world class opponent after world class opponent.
