    let me explain....
pac ko'ed hatton in 2. we all know hatton had to come down and lose alot of excess weight which takes alot out of you. but lets think about hattons chin. didn't soft featherfisted collazo damn near knock hatton out. collazo has like 12-13 knockouts in 29 fights amd we all know it was a gift fight for hatton. i think that means he has no power.
he was hurt by lazcano, another person not known for his power. and when was the last time mayweather knocked someone out. Pbf usually doesn't try to knock people out...he likes to tag and move...Maybe he has no chin or maybe the weight affects him.....dont know

Now lets look at cotto......im not saying cotto doesn't have a chin...but we all know that if you hit cotto enough times without his own punches having an affect ....his mind goes and he gets on his bicycle. Yea i saw...pac rock cotto, so did his last what 6 opponets...all not know to be knockout punchers.....

so that leaves it to the question....
does pac really have that knock out power everyone is making such a big deal out of...

i think its an accumulation of wild hard shots against boxers with ok or poor defense

No one knocked Cotto down the way Manny did.

    Nah...

He can be wild, but also he's be very accurate now. He's more often than not an accumulation puncher. But I think he's gotten stronger when he moved up and can hurt you badly with punches you don't see coming. And no, he has hurt and knocked down fighters with better defense than you think or want to think.

He's no Abraham thats for sure.

With Pac its his accuracy more than his power. One of his sparring partners was saying how he targets specifics spots on your chin and face depending on what kind of damage he wants to do..

Against Oscar it was obvious he was targeting his left eye with the left hand which is unusual but was extremely effective probably because of Oscar's guard. that's probably why Oscar was able to take so much punishment since that is not really a spot that will make fighters see stars.

Against Cotto he was pinpointing his shots on the tip of the chin. And anyways Cotto's never been known to have an outstanding chin.

Quick point this isn't 100% true. Hatton's normal fighting weight was 140, Mayweather brought him up in weight. IE he was lineal champ at 140 but never held the same title at 147 also his two fights before Pac were at 140 so not a factor. Now he did have to lose weight before the bout, but he always does because he likes to balloon up 40 pounds between matches.

Hatton clearly wasn't a 147lber. That showed in his chin against Collazo and Mayweather. However, I disagree that Lazcano hurt him, nor had he been hurt at 140lbs in years...before Pacquiao slaughtered him.

I didn't know that the fact that Lazcano hurt Hatton was something that people could agree or disagree with. Did you see the fight?

Pac is NOT a devastating puncher like Arthur Abraham but one thing for sure is that he has above average power and enough to be respected which combined with his speed and skills makes him so hard to beat.

Yeah, I saw it. 10th round? Before Hatton needed his laces tying?

I didn't see the big fuss with that, honestly. He got caught but wasn't too hurt or close to going down. Kind of overstated in my eyes.

Hatton developed his style of fighting because he has never had a great chin. He was dropped by eamon magee in the 1st round of their fight and was almost knocked down again in the 2nd. That's why he rushes in and grabs then lets go and smacks the body. No secret there. Cotto was also buzzed by demarcus corley. Not known as a great puncher, either.

I wouldn’t say Pacquiao has what you would call unnatural punching power...say like a Prince Naz or a Mike Tyson. But he does have power that can seriously rock you, and force you to get his respect. In addition to this, he has lightning speed. Combine the two together, and you have an offensive arsenal which can stop any fighter in and around his division.

Yes against Hatton, Pacquiao was given endless opportunities to smack his opponent in the face. So it was no surprise that it lasted only 2 rounds.

But in Cotto, we had a fully fledged Welterweight who had a very durable chin. And if you look at the two knockdowns he suffered (especially the second), you’ll notice they actually came from a dynamite shot, that seriously rocked him and took his legs away. Which suggests yes, he does have power that can and will knock you out.

But I do agree with you. More often than not, it is his accumulation of hard shots that tend to stop his opponents (Oscar, Diaz, Cotto etc).

I actually think Hatton had a pretty decent chin, he took some real bombs in his career and took them well, but got wobbled by lesser ones. It's weird. I think Cotto's chin is actually underrated, I mean he took some SERIOUS blows from Clottey, and he's a strong, strong guy. Stood up to Mosleys right hand and took blows all night from Marg, but again got wobbled by lesser fighers, Corley, Torres etc.
