"Old self"? Marcos looked like a completely different fighter....he didn't do anything great but he did show new dimensions to his fight game. He actually worked behind a decent Jab and never abandoned it.....even when he was losing. He also showed a more savvy approach to his strategy this weekend....he used some angles and more head movement.

I think while it helped A LOT early on.....it wasnt as fluid or natural as it could have been where Marcos could have controlled the entire fight and probably would have gotten the KO earlier.

Soto wasn't expecting to see that version of Miadana....but by the end of rd 2 or the beginning of round 3, he was able to make some adjustments to Marcos' new tools that were not quite at the level it needs to be. Plus the body work Soto was putting in had Marcos suckin air and just about spent by the end of the fight.

If Marcos' didn't land that straight at the end of the round to hurt and drop Soto I thin he would have lost...Marcos got his second wind off the back of that KD and finished Soto off the next round. He was obviously still hurt.

Props to Marcos.....he didn't give up and proved to be a warrior with an iron will. He definitely needed all of that to beat the bigger man on Saturday....but he was in trouble.

Next fight I expect a lighter touch with his selection of opponents and for a more dominant win. I think be deserves that. He needs someone who he can face that allows him to work on those new skill sets that Garcia has added to his tool belt.

I really thought he was a round away from losing to Soto before he punched through him at the end of the round.....that gave him the 2nd wind he was in desperate need of. Great come from behind win. FOTY candidate for sure.

Very exciting fight and very fan friendly.

But you can't say "one guy is the harder over another," and expect that to hold up.

I do think Maidana should have got the $100K but not for the reason the TS mentioned. Maidana had a more beautiful knockout period.
