If we're taking into account that they won't fight until next year and Marquez will have fought Pacquiao and Rios will have improved again, I think Rios has a huge chance against Marquez. It could be the passing on of the Mexican torch.

He's like Margarito but with huge power.

Imagine Valero was still on the scene. Him versus Rios would be a ****ing war!

Hes got way more skills than Margo had and much better defense...BUt Margo was an even huger WW than Rios is at LW,would be hard to top Margos chin.. Both overwhelm you but different skill set..... RIos has good power,,,but Margo did too... Rios just puts his punches together better and is quicker, better schooled.

    shame on you traitor!:fire

JMM counters Rios all day everyday. Rios' relentless assault would be nullified by Juan's counter combos.:deal

this. see Marquez -- Katsidis, where Marquez had to grind out a win in the trenches after getting knocked down in the 3rd. Rios is a different category than Katsidis.

    THANK YOU!!!

Good God that would have been horrific because Valero would not have backed away ONE BIT. I would have paid top dollar to see that fight.

JMM is too smart and too crafty for Rios. No way he stands there in a phone booth and bangs away with Rios. He out boxes him and probably ends it late.

I think Robert Guerrero would have dominated Rios and stopped him late as well.

A younger, pre JMM Juan Baby Bull Diaz would have been a good match for Rios as well.

I think this is where people are erring.......
.....because Marquez gets put on the seat of his pants, people take with them to assume that he struggled and had to grind out a fight.....when the fact is that Marquez was mostly in command of Katsidis virtualy the whole way.
Outside that knockdown, Marquez pretty much dominated Katsidis.

Dont know why fans take that a fighter "struggles" with another based on getting tagged with one shot......reminds me of Evander Holyfields almost complete domination of Bert Cooper, but because Holyfield was down and hurt in one of the rounds, people tend to revise what really happened in that fight and talk about it now as if Cooper was competing in the rounds against Holyfield, when the fact is that Holyfield outside the knockdown dominated Cooper.and outclassed him.....

He can improve, but the thing with me is that I dont believe Rios will get that much better.......

Rios just has that seek and destroy mentality and he exudes it not only in the ring, but outside of it.

I think Rios will always have the mentality of living by the sword and dying by it.

.......his defense is concerning to me. He just gets hit consistently flush in most of the rounds.
He's going to pay dearly for that against good boxer punchers with better than average defense.
The type of defense that Rios just cant step in to just start winging his shots against.

if he continues his warrior mentality he will probably end up with brain damage unless he gets out early.

Rios would beat the **** out of Soto. He aint beating Marquez tho...He'll give him hell, no doubt about that, drop him in the early rounds, but Juan would make his adjusments, and counter him with his sharp accurate combinations and stop him in the 11th in a brutal and close war.

Marquez couldn't even stop a punching bag in Katsidis in 6 rounds man. Come on!

Anyway I'm also a big Marquez fan but I anit a blind one, there is no way that at this point he beats Rios.

If Marquez thought Katsidis left hook was something when he got drop on his ass just wait and see when he taste a Rios left hook or his right hand.

I just can't see Marquez hurting Rios at all but I do see Rios hurting Marquez very early if they ever fight.

Rios best chance is to take him out early, but we all know what happens when you put Marquez down...Rios would give him plenty of hell no doubt, but Marquez still takes it.

I think Rios wins this by close decision where Marquez will taste some knock downs in the fight.

I guess we are just gonna agree to disagree here...Now that i think about it, i do think this would go the distance..I see JMM winning a 114-113 type decision, and at this stage of his career, a fight with Rios, even if he wins, would really take a toll on Juan.
