JMM would no doubt abuse Rios' body...Bam Bam would still give Dinamita all sorts of hell tho...ATM this is the fight i would LOVE to see most...even more than Pac-May :deal
Says who? Guys like Gatti,Ward,Yori boy,Jorge Castro,Arce,Sheika,Mccullough stuck around for ever... Or still around, and compare to those guys Rios has slick skills...All those guys also had big punches that bailed them out most times (exept Mccollough) .. ... I dont belive Rios has peaked yet.. Expect him to go from Hard punching very good (right now) to elite in the next year ro 2.
Marquez is very experienced for a guy as inexperienced as Rios. Just because Rios had a good fight last night, you have to think about who he is fighting.
So.... seems to be a lot of people in here who think JMM can't handle Rios' power. I guess Brandon hits harder and faster than Pac now?
The fight would end up having Rios's individual traits testing Marquez in a fight somewhere between the way: -the speed and variety of Diaz's punches went up against Marquez's own speed and counter-punching accuracy and -the consistent pressure, durability, and power of Katsidis went up against Marquez's defensive movement and combination punching. Both ended with Marquez's opponent being waved off by the referee, the championship belts back at their proper place at his side, and another fight of the year candidate being proclaimed by commentators and journalists shortly after the final bell. Even at Marquez's career twilight, Bam Bam's challenge would end no differently.
I'm suprised you think that highly of Rios....... Do you personally know or have an acquaintance that knows Rios??? .....just teasing. I'll say this about Rios. He's exciting, no doubt. I'll tune in to watch Rios anytime because I know he's going to let his punches fly. I was verbally in glee as I watched him trade with Antillon...... It would be great for boxing to see Rios develop the way you describe he will be Anarci.......from the 3 or 4 fights I've seen of him, I just dont see it. His last couple of fights against Acosta and Antillon, he raises his hands high up and kind of goes into a turtle shell defense......his defense is so porous, that with both his hands held high in front of his face, those two opponents easily broke through his defense.:? Usually a fighter that fights with the hands held high defense (Winky Wright) style, does'nt get hit clean very often......Rios however is getting hit cleanly even when he's not attempting to trade. Rios has got a hell of alot to work on before you can mention him in the same breath with JL Castillo. Castillo's defense was alot better than what I've seen of Rios. Castillo who was a sparmate of JC Chavez, learned alot about the art of parrying, and Castillo became quite good at doing that himself. Against the current version of Rios, I'd pick any championship version of Castillo to brutally knockout Rios. I think Castillo would do to Rios similar to what Rios did to Antillon, but likely lasting a little longer. I'm sorry, but Rios is'nt in JL Castillo's class at the moment, however I do respect your opinions my friend.
Soto/rios is 50/50. JMM/rios is 60/40 in JMM's favor. Rios is good, but his chin isn't hard to find and can be hurt.
And how long was this again??? This was YEAR'S ago if you think Marquez is still the same fighter then you don't know **** about Boxing!!!
Your Gatti/Rios comparison is off base, I feel ya' that's how you view it but the wa you view it and the way it is aren't jiving, IMHO.
Not faster but yeah he's heavier handed, no doubt in my mind. Obviously when looking at the weight differences that would factor into it, but pound for pound I think Rios has more knockout power than Manny.
