I'm one on this thread to voice giving Mayweather a good chance to beat Duran, but the highlighted statement is a severe understatement in tha it just does'nt stop at not taking on Pacquiao.

There's a list of fighters that fans wanted to see Mayweather tested against and he retired instead of facing the music.
Its a part of the reason why people are rightfully disrespectful toward Mayweather.
Mayweather does'nt respect what the fans want to see, why should they give Mayweather the courtesy of respect?

Pimp, take a deep breath, and don't forget to take your meds.

Agree w/the OP. Duran, a consensus p4p ATG, would beat FM. Floyd doesn't like the rough stuff :yep

He could have been an ATG but avoided too many fighters. Not making the Pacman fight years ago was absurd. FM has had 5 fights the past 5 years :huh He acted like he was washed up in his early 30s, while he was clearly still in top form.

And cool it w/the :deal crap, I seldom see anything you post a "deal"

Pea Whitaker would beat Duran and most here would agree. I love how you leave that part out and immediately go to Floyd. Floyd is still a bad match up for Duran. Atg defense ring iq counter punching and movement. Not to mention longer reach which he would tool Duran from the outside and mov on him all night long Duran is an atg but guys like pea and Floyd are bad matchups for him.

Whitaker barely handled Vasquez and Floyd would get over powered and overwhelmed by Duran. Duran iron chinned Floyd isn't good enough. This isn't Chavez.

Duran lost to Benitez de Jesus knocked the fcuk out against hearns and quit against srl. Pea schools him and pbf outboxes him. People like you always underrate defense. Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships.

Floyd would have a chance against any fighter in the history of this sport based on his defense. Duran has his opinion just like us. If he thinks his era was better so be it. I think that Duran had a better chance against Floyd at ww than lw. Strange.

    Absolute nonsence & spew.

Duran is recognized as one of the most complete fighters ever to lace on a pair of gloves. Duran's defence was outstanding, everyone knew that & it's recognized as such. Angelo Dundee raved over it, Duran could turn defence into offence in a blink of an eye & he never had to set himself either. Duran was very difficult to land clean on, go ask SRL.

Yoy say defence wins championships, well Duran was 135 champion for 7 years & left the 135 class as Undisputed Champion. If you ain't gotta defence then you ain't gonna rule very long are you.

You know & I both know that Duran's the most natuarally fluent fighter you'll ever see on film. He's an absolute natural, all this duran's just a "Brawler" is only spouted by greenhorns & muppets. You don't get the "Fighter of the decade" accolade for nothing & back in the day where you could not avoid your fate!

He lost to Benitez at 154 not 135 & was in his 30's, DeJesus beat him in a 10 round non-title affair when he was still just 21, no big deal, he destroyed DeJesus twice after that. KO'd by Hearns! Duran by then was just a 33 year old fat pisshead, he said himself that Hearns knocked all the booze & whores out of him which he'd been over indulging in, no excuses other than that + being out reached by a whole 13in & 6in in height, he was an old man.

The Castillo fight showed up Floyd as to the level he is & at 147 he's not much to rave about, his resume is pure pus. Duran handled all the runners, Floyd could survive against Duran at 135 but he could never ever win, Duran's just a better all round technician & at 147 he'd beat a tattoo onto Floyd from the toes up. Floyd's to slow, to static & just does not carry enough pop or punch volume to deter the panama animal. If Duran can whip SRL then he's gonna glove **** your boy on the ropes or ring center or on the surface of planet mars.

Floy's doin fine against club fighters & shopping mall titleists like Ortiz & Gerrero, or blown up 135lb counterpuncher Marquez, faded Cotto & that WBU titleist Hatton. Old Mosley, It's a joke! Floyd's doin just fine $$$$$ raping you mugs. To compare this HBO creation to the likes of Duran just shows what a limited boxing brain they have.

I can understand fanboyism, fuk all wrong in seeing yer hero as immortal, but unlike when I was young & my old man would go on about Armstrong/Robinson/Loius/Marciano & co, and how my old man's era would flatten mine & I'd go yeh yeh yeh dad. Back then they was no way to make comparison's but today it's all available. There's no way Floyd is gonna make it to 15 unless he runs & as SRL said, to run from Duran is suicide. As I said earlier, Castillo exposed floyd as to what his level truly is, good but not great. Floyd's all smoke & mirrors.

90% of the mutts on here have never watched a Duran fight at 135, they actually know zip about him. They've never watched him face the mighty Hagler at 160 or beat Barkley & Moore or destroy DeJesus in those to epic's. There just full of shyte.

Unfortunately most of the internet sites have become so polarised between Mayweather and Pacman that their respective fanatical followers have decided that the one they dream over would beat anyone within their weight division ( or a couple either side ) from any era ever.

Trying to be objective doesn't work with these freaks. As much as I admire Mayweathers skills, I know he has nothing to dishearten a focused Duran.

Ur right duran was very skilled fighter. Alot of peps tend to remember the older duran mid late 80s . He brawled alot more in this period. But a young duran was one of the most complete fighters boxings ever seen. Duran could slip punches and counter inside like no one i ever seen . He was a true great in the ring .he could punch he could slip he could move. He was great

    Excellent post.
There's a reason just about every person in the business and knowledgeable fans - unless they have a biased agenda - considers Duran a p4p ATG.

    Btw, I'm in that 10% ;)
