Froch = Just another British fighter that talks **** and will make more noise in the weeks leading up to the fight than in the ring. He has no defense, no power just a cocky bloke who is gonna get lit up by short punches while his hands are glued to his thighs vs Ward.
I don't think there is any real reason to claim "Froch has no chance." There are a number of fighters from various divisions who are really good, but seriously over rated. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive, and Ward is one of those guys who is good, but not near as good as people claim he is. Personally, the one aspect of this fight I am most looking forward to is seeing what Froch does the first time Ward head butts him. I think this fight is going to get rough and ugly, and I doubt if Ward can stand up to a serious dose of his own medicine.
Froch tends to win for 1 reason. His punches hit people. He has a way of finding his man both inside and outside. The only guy he wasn't able to find was Dirrell, who was very long and very fast and didn't engage in a way that would have benifited Froch. Ward isn't as long, isn't as fast and will have to engage to win the fight. Ward had problems with Bika because Bika could fight inside-outside as well. Froch is like Bika squared. It won't be easy for Ward.
I don't always agree with you, but I agree with you here. Ward is good, but I've seen threads where people ask whos better Prime Toney or Ward or if Ward is a future ATG. We probably need to slam the brakes for a bit. Ward has beaten 1 really good fighter in Kessler(and he did do it pretty easily ). Since then it's been Allan Green(who lost a WIDE decision to the crude Miranda and has lost every big fight), Sakio Bika(ugly fight), and Arthur Abraham who every top super middleweight would more or less kill bar a 1-punch KO from AA. Ward is an excellent boxer and I think he has a bright future but I don't think he's what he will ultimately become just yet. At this point there's still question marks as to how Ward will handle certain styles and certain physical attributes because....we just don't know because we haven't seen it yet. For instance, we don't know how he would handle someone who had ridiculous speed like Dirrell. We just don't know yet. In terms of Froch we don't know how Ward will handle someone as awkward as Froch who has a ridiculous reach who will hold his jab out to keep distance. To be fair to Ward, he did stand up to plenty of his own medicine against Bika.
Says the guy who thought Pavlik was a great fighter, and that Dirrell and Ward would be beaten out of the tournament. :nut
Ward has far better boxing acumen then Dirrell. And I say that as a Dirrell fan. He has better footwork, is better offensively, more active, and is more polished as a fighter. Kessler doesnt have length, nor the speed of Dirrell and he beat Froch. Neither does Jermain Taylor for that matter. So suffice to say, you dont know what you're talking about. :good
