    Hey Guys,

Why the hell are people labelling Pac #1 P4P when anyone with an educated eye knows goddamn well that if they were the same size, Calzaghe would beat him? P4P is based on the premise that if all the fighters were the same size and/or relative to their respective weight class. Everybody loves Pac and his fighting style, but compared to Joe he is one dimensional. Joe can fight on the inside, outside, laterally, forward, backward, is very quick himself, is also left handed, very intelligent, undefeated, has a very good chin, great heart, great timing and sense of distance, and has now proven himself to not be a protected European fighter by coming here to America and beating two legends. Anybody that thinks Hopkins was old when Joe beat him needs to re-watch his fight with Pavlik. By the way, I am a yank and I feel this way. I think he is the most underrated fighter in boxing history. Your thoughts?

    OUCH!

Can I ask why you are on a boxing forum? You clearly have no idea what pound-for-pound means and know absolutely zero about the sport. This really is one of the worst threads I've seen. Seriously mate, take up tennis.

what does it mean smart ass.

original context of P4p means exactly that size and weight difference aside based on talent ,ring generalship, adaptability, skill set and style. p4p joe is better then pac. learn your ****. and this is what p4p meant when it was made up for SRR:good

Modern p4p is probably 50% achievement and 50% perceived ability irrespective of size. If it was purely based on ability you'd probably be right, but in this day and age, when boxers don't fight every threat, achievement does make a difference

What you just said is without a doubt one of the most insanely idiotic things i've ever heard. At no point in your rambling were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Why don't you just reply to him explaining what pound-for-pound means instead of arrogantly telling him he knows zero about the sport?

I'm not agreeing on all his post here but if pound-for-pound was strictly on boxing ability and nothing about resume or achievement then the poster is probably right in that sense. Calzaghe pound-for-pound would beat Pacquaio I'm sure a lot would agree on that.

:huh How would you come up with that conclusion? Styles makes fights for the most part bro. Joe is a pressure fighter with top notch skills but Joe does well with fighters who aren't as active as he is. JOe has problem with speed fighters, slick fighters and pressure fighters....not to say he can't win against those styles...he just has difficulties.

Throw in PAC who is more active, has more speed and more power and the fight isn't as one sided as you'd like to have people believe. The fight would be close...a good fight but if both men were on level playing fields I'd go with PAC. Stylistically PAC has the kryptonite for Super Joe.

PAC was one "D" before Roach molded him into a more polished and complete fighter......you don't have a performance like PAC did against DIAZ and say he's one "D".....of course "STYLES MAKES FIGHTS" and Diaz was made for PAC but what was showcased was an abundance of skills. No debate there.

And if you say BHOP was not OLD against Joe or PAV you are sorely mistaken.....Hop never fights old, but at 43 or 44 the man is old and he's only still around b/c of his skills, lack of damage and living a healthy lifestyle......but he has slowed considerably, his reflexes are not what they once were and he's not as active as he was in his prime....now the PAV fight Nard turned back the clock....of course PAV's style was a very good match up for Nard who is known to eat up striaght forward punchers like PAV but Nard was BUSY!!!...he showed urgency, he showed motivation and desire!

Don't sit there and tell me you thought Bhop always looked the way he did against PAV....Nard is a efficent technician with outstanding tactical instinct....but Nard wanted to prove something to his detractors and nay sayers and Pav unfortunately was his platform to make his statement.....with Joe, Nard had a fighter who is on his skill, talent and experience level...that fight would have been hard even if Nard had the same kind of night he had with Kelly.....but I gurantee if Nard showed up like he did with Kelly when Joe and Nard faught it would have been a clear cut UD for Nard.

Same size same skills, Manny would be ate least as fast as Joe but with more power. I would pick Pacquiao in that fantasy matchup.

    Pound 4 Pound

"Pound-for-Pound or P4P means the best boxer overall based upon his or her boxing skills whatever the weight. Pound-for-pound rankings compare boxers regardless of weight by using criteria such as boxing records, percentage of wins by knockout and level of competition to determine who is the better boxer."

If Pac was a supermiddleweight or if Joe was a lightweight, Id pick joe to come out on top both times.
