Good point although Roach is a very good trainer as well....but chemesty between fighters is essential and you could be right. Didn't even think about that.

    ATTENTION THREAD STARTER and Tays001,

HAVE you ever thought why CALZAGHE can't KO a 43 yr old boxer almost his size while PAC schooled somebody who is 4 inches taller and has 6 inch advantage?!

Just imagine this guys, based on your theory if PAC has the size of ODLH and he has the same SPEED AND POWER he showed against CALZAGHE..

Just imagine what he can do to CALZAGHE!?!

Props to him to his record but thinking that PAC has no way of BEATING calzaghe is simply a product of PURE IMAGINATION!!!!:good:lol::good

Oh **** another fantasy match up for Pac... I choose Slap KO1 Pac! This thread never gets old for Pac.

Lets check reality... Naw this would never damn happen in any life of ours, so no point on debating or whatsoever.

This thread is a total demonstration of irrational nut hugging. I like Joe, but he has done NOTHING to prove he is an elite fighter. His best win is against Kessler who has also not yet fought enough solid competition to judge him on. Manny has fought the best of the best and we KNOW that he is an elite fighter. Joe after sitting at home for a decade no longer has a chance of ever proving if he is even on an elite level much less better than pac p4p. Unless maybe he waits until there is a true currently elite fighter in his weight class and takes them on. The days when there was such competition he wasn't willing to test himself.

Hey guys, I've been on vacation and haven't had a chance to reply to you guys who have posted on my thread. First, I wish the name calling and childish behavior were not so prevalant on this forum. We are all huge boxing fans, and it's sad that people need to resort to name calling when they don't agree with others. I started this thread because it's widely believed that Pac is P4P #1 and Calzaghe is #2.

Personally, I believe that Calzaghe should be #1. In regards to the arguement about what P4P means, the answer is simple and axiomatic. The words "POUND FOR POUND" tell you all you need to know. It means relative to weight. It was created as others mentioned for Sugar Ray Robinson because he was not big enough to beat the heavyweight champ at the time (Joe Louis), but was universally recognized as the more skilled boxer "pound for pound" and would have been able to defeat him were they the same size.

For those that bring up accomplishments, resume, opposition, etc this goes without saying when rating a fighter on the P4P list because a fighter doesn't get compared to a great contemporary of his until he has proven himself to be an accomplished fighter with a solid resume against solid opposition. Case in point: nobody was placing Calzaghe on the P4P list until he beat Lacy even though he was 41-0 at the time with umpteen title defenses. He needed to prove that he was not simply a protected European fighter, and he did so by dominating a young, undefeated fellow champion who was favored to beat him. Subsequent to this win, he went on to defeat more solid opposition and hence his rise in the consensus P4P rankings.

I think everyone understands H2H and what it means. In this case, it's not fair to suggest who would win H2H because one guy is 6' 175lbs and the other guy is 5'6 and 135-142lbs. That is why (along with most having them #1 & #2 P4P) I started a P4P thread with them two being the focus. I am American and not European by the way.

Lastly, before Mayweather retired, I agreed with most everyone that he was P4P #1. Even after Pac's win over De La Hoya, I still have Pac #2 behind Calzaghe. If Mayweather comes back next year, I would bet a grand that he beat Pac on a decision. His defense, ring intellect, experience, and ability to match Pac's speed being the reasons. Pac is a great fighter. Mayweather is a great boxer. When a great boxer in his prime fights a great fighter in his prime, my money is on the great boxer. I resent being told that I don't know boxing. I have followed the sport for 23 years and have been in the ring at the amateur level to boot.
