    [quote tays001]
what does it mean smart ass.

original context of P4p means exactly that size and weight difference aside based on talent ,ring generalship, adaptability, skill set and style. p4p joe is better then pac. learn your ****. and this is what p4p meant when it was made up for SRR:good

    Let me say this again!

The P4P debate is stupid to begin with! The arguments are like...would Custer have beaten the Indians at Little Big Horn if they had the same number of men! or would Japan had lost World War II if they had an Atom Bomb. There is never a chance to compare Pacquiao and Calzaghe. One is a great fighter within his weight against similar sized fighters as is the other.

If you really want to compare two fighters then put them in the ring!! The better man will win.
    Otherwise stop this P4P nonesense!

pac is clearly known worldwide as the better overall p4p fighter.

and if they were the same size = pac by KO

  8. Clearly. Pac has moved up and fought larger and larger prime opponents while Joe avoided great opp and stuck to defeating really weak Euro talent in his "prime" years. Pac has terrific power and hand speed while Joe has near zero power. Not much of a contest P4P. Not much of a contest considering the huge heart of Manny versus the "wait until I'm 34 to test myself" mentality of Joe Calzaghe. Joe is a great fighter but nowhere near MP in ANY respect.

    indeed.

whether it was joes choice to stay in the UK throughout his prime is irrelevant. bottom line is he didnt fight the elite competition (jones jr, johnson etc) and thats the reason why many question his greatness.

pac's resume on the other hand speaks for it self.

You can't compare the two head to head. I think if there was someone in Pacquiao's weight class with Calzaghe's skillset / ring intelligence that they would win a close decision though.

I was meaning no-one called Johnson elite before, but now when bringing up Elite fighters Calzaghe could have faced he's thrown in there like you just did.

Johnson has never been Elite. He was good and he got better with age but he was never Elite.

Calzaghe pulled out twice i think.

In your first sentence you say Joe is a pressure fighter.... He is not, he admits he has many styles and can adapt but Joe is better as a counter puncher, he waits for an opening and then throws punches in bunches.

Joe has the ability to adapt and that is what the thread starter mentioned as what is the main reason Joe wins this.... p4p he would win and he is not a pressure fighter!!!
