The third fight didn't happen sooner because Marquez lost to Mayweather (just a year after the Pacquiao rematch). That pretty much explains it. An ass-kicking implies that one fighter gives much more than he's getting. That fails to describe the three super close fights.
JMM had the balls to fight Pac 3 times and likewise. Floyd had 2 years and he didn't even come close to making a fight with Pac. Who is scared now?
