He hasn't earned a fight with Martinez or Cotto, the champions he's the top challenger for in his weight class, but he needs to move up in weight to fight a bigger, better champion in Ward in a weight class he's never fought at.

Golovkin was the recognised man at 160 regardless of Martinez being lineal by people who can actually see a boxers potential. Plus if you look at common opponent in Macklin who is a solid fighter Sergio struggled whilst Golovkin swept him aside.

If Cotto wants to stay at 160 he NEEDS to fight Golovkin for the good of our sport.

 

At MW, Cotto should fight Quillin.
It would be a much more entertaining fight and the size mismatch won't be as a factor due to Quillin's defensive style.

 

So Golovkin doesn't deserve the fight as he's fought bums, yet Quillin does

Don't get me wrong it would be a much more competitive fight but if a fighters fighting in a certain weight division then he should not be able to pick and choose who he fights depending on size.

Roach has already gone on record saying he thinks Cotto would beat Golovkin, despite allegedly never seeing him fight, HBO are into GGG and the fight would be massive in New York.
